Dutch Basketball League
The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. The league began in 1960 as the ''Eredivisie'' and was organized by the NBB and later the FEB. In 1977 the league introduced play-offs. As of 2019, the Dutch Basketball League consists of ten teams and plays under the FIBA rules. History 2010s Starting with the 2010–11 season, the Eredivisie changed its name to the Dutch Basketball League, shortly the DBL. BC Apollo
Apollo Amsterdam is a professional basketball team based in Amsterdam. The club plays its games in the BNXT League, the Dutch top league. The club was founded in 2011 and has been playing in the highest national level for years. The amateur section of the club is known as BC Apollo. Boyd Kjeld van der Vuurst de Vries (born 16 August 1999) is a Dutch professional basketball player, who currently plays for Landstede Hammers of the BNXT League. The 2017–18 Dutch Basketball League (DBL) was the 58th season of the Dutch Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands. The regular season started on 7 October 2017 and ended 21 April 2018. Donar is the defending champion. The playoffs started on 1 May and ended 29 May 2018. Donar captured its seventh championship, its third in a row and fourth in fifth years, after defeating ZZ Leiden in the finals. Olaf Schaftenaar (born 15 May 1993) is a Dutch professional basketball player for Donar of the BNXT League. He played collegiately with Oregon State before returning to the Netherlands to play professionally for Landstede Hammers. Schaftenaar also plays for the Netherlands national team. Marijn Ververs
Marijn Ververs (born 17 September 1998) is a Dutch basketball player for ZZ Leiden of the Dutch Basketball League (DBL). Professional career Ververs, a product of the ZZ Leiden youth academy, made his professional debut with the senior team the 2016–17 season under coach Paul Vervaeck. In June 2020, Ververs signed a 2-year extension with Leiden. In the 2020–21 season, he was named captain of the team. In the 2020–21 season, he won his first DBL championship with Leiden. Sam van Dijk (; born 28 August 1996) is a Dutch professional basketball player. Early career Van Dijk played for DAS Delft and Lokomotief Rijswijk. In the 2015–16 season, he played for the Rotterdam Basketbal under-24 and Punch Delft. Landstede Hammers is a Dutch basketball club based in Zwolle. The club plays in the BNXT League, the Dutch top tier division. The club was founded as Cees Lubbers The Hammers in 1995. In 1999, the club’s name was changed into Landstede Hammers.
