D533 (Croatia)
D533 was a state road that connected the city of Šibenik and A1 motorway in Šibenik interchange to D33 state road. The part of the road between Šibenik and A1 motorway was opened on June 26, 2005 while the part between A1 motorway and D33 state road was opened in 2007. The road was abolished and merged with D33 in 2012. The road was 8.0 km long. All D533 road junctions except for its northern terminus (north of A1) were grade separated. The D533 was executed as a single-carriageway, two-lane expressway with a speed limit of 80 km/h (50 mph). The road, as well as all other state roads in Croatia, was managed and maintained by Hrvatske ceste, state owned company. Drniš
Drniš is a town in Croatia, located in inland Dalmatia, about halfway between Šibenik and Knin. History The name Drniš was mentioned for the first time in a contract dated March 8, 1494. However, there are traces of older Middle Ages' fortress built by Croatian aristocrat family Nelipić at the site called Gradina dominating the landscape. The town was conquered by the Ottoman Turks in 1522 due to its strategic location. Many buildings from this time period are still preserved today. During the Baroque period, the mosque built by the Turks was transformed into a church. In 1918 the town was occupied by Italian troops who remained there until a withdrawal in 1921, as a result of the Treaty of Rapallo. The town subsequently became a part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Biograd Na Moru
Biograd na Moru (), shortened to simply Biograd (), is a town in northern Dalmatia, Croatia and is significant for being another capital of the medieval Kingdom of Croatia. Vodice, Croatia
Vodice () is a town in the Šibenik-Knin County, Croatia. It borders the Adriatic Sea and has a population of 8,875 (2011 census). History Vodice was first mentioned in 1402 although it was founded already in the Ancient Rome, Roman times as Arausa. Its name derives from the word meaning water sources which supplied the whole area. As part of the Republic of Venice from 1412 to 1797, the defense walls from the times of the Ottoman Empire, Turks with the Coric tower testify the past times. Other similar monuments are St. Cross' church on the former graveyard, built in 1421 and the parish church in the town centre built in 1746. On the nearby hill Okit during the Turkish invasions, refugees founded a settlement and on its top the chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was built in 1660, which was ruined in 1942 by the Italian Navy. A two-lane expressway or two-lane freeway is an expressway or freeway with only one lane in each direction, and usually no median barrier. D33 Road (Croatia)
D33 connects Šibenik to Drniš and Knin. Furthermore, the road has junctions to major state roads, namely D8 in Šibenik, connecting to Biograd na Moru and Trogir, and D1 in Knin, which in turn connects to Sinj to the south and to Gračac to the north. The southern terminus of the road is found in Vidici interchange near Šibenik. The road is also connected to A1 motorway in Šibenik interchange. The road is long. The northern terminus of the road is at Strmica border crossing to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the road proceeds to Drvar. Part of the road between Lozovac and Vidici interchange in Šibenik is executed as a single-carriageway, two-lane expressway with a speed limit of and, until 2012, used to be designated as D533 road. Ploče
Ploče (; it, Porto Tolero) is a town and seaport in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County of Croatia. Geography Ploče is located on the Adriatic coast in Dalmatia just north of the Neretva Delta and is the natural seaside endpoint of most north-south routes through the central Dinaric Alps.
