Dzhasharbek Uzdenov
Dzhasharbek Borisovich Uzdenov (russian: Джашарбек Борисович Узденов; 25 January 1967 – 23 April 2023) was a Russian politician who served as a deputy in the 8th State Duma. From 1985 to 1987, Uzdenov served at the Soviet–Afghan War. From 2009 to 2013, he was the deputy of the People's Assembly of Karachay-Cherkessia of the 4th convocation. From 2020 to 2021, Uzdenov was the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Karachay-Cherkessia. In the 2021 Russian legislative election he was elected deputy of the 8th State Duma for the Karachay-Cherkessia constituency. According to Kommersant, Uzdenov missed all 23 Duma sessions carried out in the autumn of 2021. Uzdenov died on 23 April 2023, at the age of 56. The State Duma (russian: Госуда́рственная ду́ма, r=Gosudárstvennaja dúma), commonly abbreviated in Russian as Gosduma ( rus, Госду́ма), is the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia, while the upper house is the Federation Council of Russia, Federation Council. The People's Assembly (Parliament) of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic (russian: Народное Собрание (Парламент) Карачаево-Черкесской Республики) is the regional parliament of Karachay-Cherkessia, a federal subject of Russia. By-elections To The 8th Russian State Duma
By-elections to the 8th State Duma, 8th Russian State Duma will be held to fill vacancies in the State Duma between the 2021 Russian legislative election, 2021 election and the 2026 Russian legislative election, 2026 election. According to article 97 of the Federal Law "On elections of deputies of the State Duma", by-elections are appointed on the second Sunday of September (single voting day), but not less than 85 days before the day of voting. This means that if a vacant seat occurs before a single voting day, but less than 85 days before it, the election will be scheduled for next year. Also, by-elections are not appointed and are not held if, as a result of these elections, a Deputy can not be elected for a term of more than one year before the end of the constitutional term for which the State Duma was elected. 2021 Russian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Russia from 17 to 19 September 2021. At stake were 450 seats in the 8th convocation of the State Duma, the lower house of the Federal Assembly. Going into the elections, United Russia was the ruling party after winning the 2016 elections with 343 of the 450 seats, and retaining a supermajority. In March 2020, it was proposed to hold a snap election in September 2020 due to proposed constitutional reforms, but this idea was abandoned. On 18 June 2021 Vladimir Putin signed a decree calling the election for 19 September the same year. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic in Russia, voting in the election lasted for three days, from 17 to 19 September. Final turnout was reported to be 51.72%. The Soviet–Afghan War was a protracted armed conflict fought in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989.
