Dworzec Gdański Metro Station
Dworzec Gdański (''Gdańsk Train Station'') is a station on Line M1 of the Warsaw Metro, located just south of the Warszawa Gdańska railway station, at the viaduct of Andersa Street over Słomińskiego Street. It is one of the major transport hubs in the northern part of the city of Warsaw. The station was opened on 20 December 2003 as the northern terminus of the extension from Ratusz. On 8 April 2005 the line was extended further north to Plac Wilsona. The ''A-17 Dworzec Gdański'', to give its official name, is a two-storey station, with a single central platform located on the lower level. The platform is 12 metres wide and 120 metres long. The overall length of the station itself is 156 metres and the width is 20.4 metres. Both ends of the station are equipped with escalators and stairs, as well as elevators. Warszawa Gdańska Station
Warszawa Gdańska station (also known as Dworzec Gdański; literally Gdańsk station) is a railway station in northern Warsaw, Poland. The name of the station derives from its past as the main station serving trains towards Gdańsk. Currently, trains in that direction use the main Cross-City Line and the Warszawa Centralna railway station. It is located on the "Northern Line" that runs between Central Warsaw and the city's Żoliborz district to the north. It serves as a transportation hub for regional trains departing the station. It connects with the Warsaw Metro's Dworzec Gdański stop, located below the railway station, and a number of nearby tram and bus stops. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. M1 (Warsaw)
Line M1 is the first line of the Warsaw Metro. It is 23.1 km long, has 21 stations and runs from the Kabaty estate in the Ursynów district to the Młociny district in Bielany. The decision to build it was made in 1982, and a year later the first works in Ursynów began. In 1995, the first section of the route connecting Ursynów and Mokotów with Śródmieście was launched, and the next sections were put into operation in the following years. In 2008, construction of the Bielany section was completed and crossings on the whole line were started. There is also a plan to add two additional stations around the center portion of the metro line. M1 trains run from approximately 5:00 AM to 12:10 AM (from Monday to Thursday and Sunday) and from approximately 5:00 AM to 3:00 AM (Fridays and Saturdays). Warsaw Metro
The Warsaw Metro ( pl, Metro Warszawskie) is a rapid transit underground system serving the Polish capital Warsaw. It currently consists of two lines, the north-south Line M1 which links central Warsaw with its densely populated northern and southern districts, and the east-west Line M2, of which the westernmost segment is in construction. A third line ( M3) is still being planned. The system is operated by Metro Warszawskie sp. z o.o., a company owned by the city, and managed by Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego w Warszawie (ZTM Warszawa). Ratusz Arsenał Metro Station
Ratusz Arsenał is a station on Line M1 of the Warsaw Metro, Poland, located under the Plac Bankowy (English: ''Bank Square'') in the borough of Śródmieście. The station was opened on 11 May 2001 as the northern terminus of the extension from Centrum. On 20 December 2003 the line was extended further north to Dworzec Gdański. It takes its name from the Warsaw City Hall (Polish: ''Ratusz'') located on the western side of the square. Warsaw Arsenal is also located near the station. Plac Wilsona Metro Station
Plac Wilsona (English: Wilson Square) is a station on M1 (Warsaw), Line M1 of the Warsaw Metro. It is located below Wilson Square in the Żoliborz district in northern Warsaw. The station was opened on 8 April 2005 as the northern terminus of the extension from Dworzec Gdański metro station, Dworzec Gdański. On 29 December 2006 the line was extended further north to Marymont metro station, Marymont as shuttle service, and on 20 March 2008 as normal service. Muranów (Warsaw Metro)
Muranów ( , Polish: ) is a neighbourhood in the districts of Śródmieście (Downtown) and Wola in central Warsaw, the capital of Poland. It was founded in the 17th century. The name is derived from the palace belonging to Simone Giuseppe Belotti, a Venetian architect, who originally came to Warsaw from the island of Murano. It is the northernmost neighbourhood of the downtown area. Muranów was once Warsaw's most multicultural, densely-populated and diverse precinct with historical architecture, bazaars, churches and synagogues. In the interwar period (1918–1939), the district was primarily inhabited by Jews. As a result, the Warsaw Ghetto was set up in Muranów in 1940 by the occupying Germans.
