Humboldt is a city in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. It is located 113 km east of Saskatoon at the junction of Highway 5 and Highway 20. The city is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Humboldt No. 370. History Named after German explorer Alexander von Humboldt, Humboldt began as a telegraph station located on the Carlton Trail, a wagon route used in the early days of Western Canada as a route from Fort Garry (Winnipeg) to Fort Edmonton. The name "Humboldt" was approved in 1875 for a site in the North West Territories along the Canadian Pacific Telegraph Line at which a repair station was built (8 km south-west of the present city site). Randy Woytowich
Randy Woytowich (born July 22, 1954) is a Canadian curling, curler from Saskatchewan. He is a former Canadian mixed champion and two-time provincial men's champion. As a junior curler, Woytowich and teammates Rick Woytowich, Ben Dies and John Kuffner won the Saskatchewan junior men's provincial championship. In 1984, Woytowich, Kathy Fahlman, Brian McCusker and Jan Betker won the provincial mixed championship, and then went on to win the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, representing Saskatchewan. The team went undefeated at the event, and earned a direct spot in the final against Quebec, which they won. The team was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 2018. In 1990, Woytowich formed a men's team with McCusker at third, Wyatt Buck at second and John Grundy (curler), John Grundy at lead. Shaun Myles Meachem (born October 9, 1979 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian curler from Cabri, Saskatchewan. Curling career Meachem grew up in Mayerthorpe, Alberta. He played on a number of teams in Alberta before moving to Saskatchewan in 2009. While in Alberta, Meachem won two World Curling Tour events: the Rainbow Cashspiel in 2004, playing lead for Rob Armitage and again in 2005 playing second for Chris Schille. After moving to Saskatchewan, Meachem began curling competitively again in 2012, playing third for Max Kirkpatrick. Meachem played in his first Saskatchewan men's provincial at the 2013 SaskTel Tankard, but the Kirkpatrick rink would not make the playoffs. Jason Jacobson (born June 8, 1977) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Career Jacobson won the 2009 Saskatchewan provincial mixed championship playing second on a team skipped by Darrell McKee. The team represented Saskatchewan at the 2009 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, where they finished third. After finishing 9-2 in the round robin, they would lose in the semi-final to Ontario. Jacobson is a long-time competitor on the World Curling Tour. He played in his first Grand Slam event playing third for the Jeff Sharp rink at the 2003 Players' Championship, where they would lose all of their matches. The next season Jacobson joined the Brad Heidt rink at third. The team played in two Grand Slams in the 2003-04 season. They failed to make the playoffs at the 2003 Canadian Open but did much better at the 2004 Players' Championship, placing in 4th place after losing in a rare 3rd place game.
