Dushi District
Dushi district is located in the central part of Baghlan Province, Afghanistan. It lies on the major Kabul-Kunduz highway. The population of the district was estimated to be around 57,160 in 2004. Hazaras are around 60% of the population and make up the majority in the district, followed by Tajiks (39%). The centre of the district is Dushi. Dushi was considered contested between the Afghan Government and the Taliban in late 2018. Geography Dushi has an area of 1942.5 square kilometers, comparatively equivalent to the area of Manus Island. The district has both the Kunduz River and the Andarab River running through the district. They meet near the town of Dushi. Manus Island
Manus Island is part of Manus Province in northern Papua New Guinea and is the largest of the Admiralty Islands. Khinjan District
Khinjan District (pop: 29,600) is located in the southern part of Baghlan province in the Hindu Kush mountains. The capital is the town of Khenjan. The main Kabul-Kunduz highway passes through the district from south to west. Ethnic Tajiks makes up around 85% of the total population while the Pashtuns, Hazara and Uzbeks, each at 5%, makes up the remaining 15% of the population. Andarab District
Andarab ( fa, اندراب) is district located in the southern part of Baghlan Province, Afghanistan. The estimated population of Andarab in 2004 was roughly 120,642. In 2002, it was estimated that Tajiks 100% of the district's population but records show that Hazaras and Uzbeks of Afghanistan are also habitants of Andarab. The district centre is the village of Andarab, which is named after the Andarab valley in which it is located. History Andarab district is one of the three districts recaptured by the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan after the Taliban took over Kabul. Nahrin District
Nahrin ( fa, نهرین) is a district in the central part of Baghlan province in Afghanistan. To the west lie the major towns of Baghlan and Puli Khumri. The district centre is Nahrin. The population of the district was estimated to be around 57,509 in 2004, of which 60% are Tajiks, 35% Pashtun and 5% Uzbeks. 2002 earthquakes On 25 March 2002, a major earthquake shook Nahrin District, causing significant loss of life and enormous damage to infrastructure and water resources. The earthquake measured 5.9 on the Richter scale with the epicentre almost directly on Nahrin City, at the relatively shallow depth of 33 km. A second earthquake hit Nahrin on 12 April 2002.
