Durkje Huitema (8 July 1918 - 11 May 2010) was a Dutch female kortebaan speed skater.Het hardrijden in Friesland — Durkje Huitema, Wommels Leeuwarder Courant, 11 January 1940 Biography Huitema was born in , the daughter of Johannes Huitema and IJbeltje Jellema. She had three sisters and a brother. Huitema was trained to skate by her father. To stay fit in the summer, she swam at the “Bolswarder zweminrichting” and performed gymnastics during the winter. Newborough, Victoria
Newborough is a town in the Latrobe Valley in Victoria, Australia which shares a border to its west, mostly along the Narracan Creek, with the town of Moe. It can be divided into three areas, Old Newborough, East Newborough and North Newborough. The latter two areas were developed by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria in the 1950s as residential housing for workers at the nearby Yallourn coal mining, power generation and briquette making works. Newborough now has a higher than average proportion of retirees and aged residents, and it has been suggested that it owes its generally quiet character to this fact. Oudkerk
Aldtsjerk ( nl, Oudkerk) is a village on the main road from Leeuwarden to Dokkum. It is part of Tytsjerksteradiel municipality, Friesland, the Netherlands and had around 615 inhabitants as of January 2018. Its annual festivities include the ''Doarpsfeest'', including a parade, held in the summer. Local landmarks include the ''Heemstra State'', former residence of the aristocratic Sminia family. The village's main road, the ''van Sminiaweg'' is about 1.5 km long and named after the Sminia family. The village also houses a former baker who was quite famous for his ''Oranjekoek'' and ''Suikerbrood'', but who retired in 2000 when the euro was introduced. Local shopping facilities are scarce: the nearest grocery market is located in Oentsjerk, about three kilometers outside town limits. Sneek (; fy, Snits) is a city southwest of Leeuwarden and the seat of the former municipality of Sneek in the province of Friesland, Netherlands. Oosterwierum
Easterwierrum ( nl, Oosterwierum) is a village in Súdwest-Fryslân in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 332 in January 2017. History The village was first mentioned in 1319 as Aesterwerum, and means "settlement on the eastern ''terp''. East has been added to distinguish between Lytsewierrum. Easterwierrum is a ''terp'' (artificial living hill) village which developed in the early middle ages. There is a church tower from the 13th century on an isolated ''terp'' to the north of Eatserwierrum. Part of the ''terp'' has been excavated. The matching church was destroyed in 1905. The Dutch Reformed church dates from 1895 and has a tower from 1911. The Catholic Saint Wiro Church was built between 1925 and 1926 in Gothic Revival style. Mantgum is a village in Leeuwarden municipality in the province Friesland of the Netherlands and had around 1,172 citizens in January 2017. History The village was first mentioned in the 13th century Mantingum, and means "settlement of the people of Mante (person)". Mantgum is a ''terp'' (artificial living mound) village which originates from around 700. A main road used to pass through the village and over the ''terp''.
