Durgavati Canal
Durgavati Canal also known as Kudra Wier Canal or Kudra Project Canal, is a canal located in Kaimur District of Bihar, India. During the British Raj, after Punjab and Agra and Uttarakhand, the government focused on the regions of Buxar, Ghazipur, and Kaimur, which grew the most crops in Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. The British and Indian governments built many canals in the 1870s-1950s to increase the irrigation of these regions, especially the parganas of Kamsar, Zamania, Sherpur, Ramgarh, Durgawati, Chainpur, Bhabua, Kudra, Kochas, Buxar and Chausa. In these regions mostly Kamsaar Raj and later Chainpur estate and Jagdishpur estate existed. These places also (excluding Buxar) made up the pargana of the Nawab of Ghazipur. These regions had 20 rivers, so irrigation was easy and many canals and tributaries were built to support and improve agriculture there. Kaimur District
Kaimur district is one of the 38 districts of Bihar, India. The district headquarters are at Bhabua. Before 1991, it was part of Rohtas District. Till 1764 the region (Kaimur district) was a part of Ghazipur District and was a part of Kamsaar Raj and later it was a part of Chainpur Estate till 1837. Durgavati River
The Durgavati River, ( 𑂠𑂳𑂩𑂹𑂏𑂰𑂫𑂞𑂲 𑂢𑂠𑂹𑂠𑂲 ) (also called Durgaoti or Durgauti and spelt as Durgawati) which flows through Kaimur district in the Indian state of Bihar, is a tributary of the Karmanasa. Course The source of the Durgavati is about east of that of the Karmanasa. In its upper reaches it is a rocky channel wide. It runs nearly north for about when it plunges down the rocky boundary of the table land in to the head of deep glen named Kadhar Kho. There it is joined by three other torrents that like itself rise on the table land of the Turkan Kharawars and fall down the rocks at the head of the same glen. Jagdishpur Estate
The Jagdishpur estate was a zamindari estate situated in modern-day Bihar, India, in erstwhile Shahabad district (now in Arrah). The centre of the estate was the town of Jagdishpur, however the estate also included neighbouring towns and villages. The estate was also protected by a fort. History The Jagdishpur estate was ruled by a branch of the Ujjainiya Rajputs. These Ujjainiyas claimed descent from the Paramara dynasty of Malwa and the Bhojpur region of Bihar was named after the Paramara King, Raja Bhoj. Chausa
Chausa is a village and corresponding community development block in Buxar district, Bihar, India. It is located 11 km west of the district headquarters, Buxar, on the bank of the river Ganga. As of 2011, the population of the village of Chausa was 9,011, in 1,362 households, while the total block population was 103,670, in 15,817 households.
