Dudu Karakaya-Koyuncu (born November 11, 1985, in Kayseri, Turkey) is a Turkish middle distance runner competing in the 1500 m, 3000 m, 5000 m ,and 3000 m steeplechase events. The tall athlete at is a member of Enkaspor in Istanbul. She began with athletics in secondary school years. Dudu Karakaya-Koyuncu graduated in physical education and sports from Erciyes University. In 2009, Dudu Karakaya-Koyuncu became gold medalist in the 3000 m and 5000 m events of European Team Championships-First League held in Bergen, Norway. At the 2012 Balkan Athletics Indoor Championships held in Istanbul, she won the gold medal in 1500 m. Athletics At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's 5000 Metres
The Women's 5000 metres competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom. The event final was held at the Olympic Stadium on 10 of August. From the start of the final Joanne Pavey took the lead, with Dibaba moving into the fourth position in the procession, ready to cover any moves. After about four laps Elena Romagnolo took up the front position for a few laps, to be replaced again with Pavey. At the 3K mark, Julia Bleasdale moved in behind her teammate, but in the next 200 metres, Dibaba decided it was time to take up the lead. The pace accelerated markedly, with the Ethiopian and Kenyan teams coming to the front and the others falling off the back. 2012 European Athletics Championships
The 2012 European Athletics Championships were held in Helsinki, Finland between 27 June and 1 July 2012. This edition marks the beginning of a new two-year cycle of the European Athletics Championships which were previously held every four years. The decision to grant the games for Helsinki was made by the European Athletics Congress on 9 November 2009. Another city that showed interest in hosting the event was Nuremberg, Germany, however Helsinki was in pole position during the whole process. This was the third time that the city had hosted the event, 1971 and 1994 being the other occasions. The Cezmi Or Memorial (Turkish: ''Uluslararası Cezmi Or Kupası'') is an annual track and field meeting which takes place in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting is held in honour of late Turkish sprinter Cezmi Or, who set Turkish records in the men's 100 metres and 200 metres, but died of typhoid fever in 1945 at the age of 24. The memorial meeting was first held one year after his death and has continued annually without interruption. 2006 European Cup (athletics)
The 2006 Spar European Cup (the 27th) took place in Málaga, Spain and attracted over 2000 athletes from 49 countries. The mascot for the 2006 games was "Manolito" the Octopus, it was chosen from the drawings submitted in a contest aimed at Andalusian schoolchildren, the winner was Eva Simancas Rubio, aged 11 from ‘Julio Caro Baroja’.
