Dudley House, London
Dudley House is a Grade II* listed house with located at 100 Park Lane in Mayfair, London. It is one of the few surviving aristocratic townhouses in London. Dudley House is named after the Ward family, holders of the titles of Baron Ward, Viscount Dudley and Ward, and Earl of Dudley. History An earlier house with stabling on the site was acquired in 1742 by the 6th Baron Ward. In 1759, the 3rd Viscount Dudley and Ward undertook substantial alterations to the property. Between 1827 and 1829, the 1st Earl of Dudley, of the first creation, rebuilt the house to the plans of the architect William Atkinson. The Earl died childless and insane in 1833, and the house was leased to the 2nd Marquess Conyngham and then to the 2nd Marquess of Abercorn. John Hubert Ward
Major Sir John Hubert Ward, (20 March 1870 – 2 December 1938) was a British army officer and courtier. Early life Ward was the second son of William Ward, 1st Earl of Dudley by his wife Georgina Elizabeth née Moncreiffe. His paternal grandfather was William Humble Ward, 10th Baron Ward and his maternal grandfather was Sir Thomas Moncreiffe, 7th Baronet. Following his father's death in 1885, his brother, William Humble Ward, succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Dudley. His other siblings included Robert Ward, a member of parliament for Crewe. All six sons of the 1st Earl received half a million dollars upon their father's death. Ward was educated at Eton College. Regent's Park (officially The Regent's Park) is one of the Royal Parks of London. It occupies of high ground in north-west Inner London, administratively split between the City of Westminster and the Borough of Camden (and historically between Marylebone and Saint Pancras parishes). In addition to its large central parkland and ornamental lake, it contains various structures and organizations both public and private, generally on its periphery, including Regent's University and London Zoo.
