Clan Douglas is an ancient clan or noble house from the Scottish Lowlands. Taking their name from Douglas in Lanarkshire, their leaders gained vast territories throughout the Borders, Angus, Lothian, Moray, and also in France and Sweden. Mount Drysdale is a locality and ghost town in the Orana region of New South Wales, Australia. It was once a village associated with gold mining. The locality is better known today, by its older name Tindarey, after the original pastoral holding from which the village site was excised. Drysdale Railway Station
Drysdale is a railway station on the Queenscliff branch line off the main Warrnambool line in Victoria, Australia. It is from Melbourne, and 65 m (212 ft) above sea level. The station lies next to Lake Lorne and was first opened on 21 May 1879. It operated until 6 November 1976 when it was closed. Subsequently, usage of the line was granted to the Bellarine Peninsula Railway which commenced tourist operations from Queenscliff in May 1979 to Laker's Siding, extending to Drysdale soon afterwards. History Early years The station opened on 21 May 1879 at a cost of £514. Facilities provided included a 60 m (200 ft) passenger platform, a 45 m (150 ft) loading platform, a "barrel roof" goods shed, a van goods shed, a 2-ton hand crane, an 18-ton cart weighbridge, a telegraph office and tea stall. Mount Drysdale is a mountain summit located on the western border of Kootenay National Park in the Vermilion Range, which is a sub-range of the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia, Canada. Its nearest higher peak is Rockwall Peak, to the west. The mountain is part of what is known as the Rockwall which is an escarpment of the Vermilion Range. Drysdale River is a river in the Kimberley (Western Australia), Kimberley region of Western Australia. The river rises in the Caroline Ranges, flows in a northerly direction and discharges into Napier Broome Bay near Kalumburu, Western Australia, Kalumburu. The river contains several permanent pools, some of which have several examples of Indigenous Australian art known as Bradshaw paintings that can be found along the cliff faces. Dryfesdale ( ) is a civil parish of the council area of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is part of the county of Dumfriesshire. Overview The parish church of Dryfesdale, located in the centre of Lockerbie, was dedicated to St Cuthbert. In 1116 it belonged to the See of Galloway. The civil parish of Dryfesdale includes the town of Lockerbie which has apparently existed since at least the days of Viking influence in this part of Scotland in the period around AD 900. Drysdale Island is a large but low-lying island in the Wessel Islands group in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is long and up to wide. It measures in area. The only settlement is Yirringa, a small family Aboriginal outstation at the northeastern end. There are numerous small lakes within it which are easily accessed by the tide, some of which are submerged for prolonged periods of time. Drysdale is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was first created in 1997, and is named after Fred Drysdale, a former member of the Legislative Council. It is an urban electorate covering 5 km² in north-western Palmerston including the CBD and the suburbs of Driver, Gray, Yarrawonga and most of Moulden. There were 5,828 people enrolled within the electorate as of August 2020. Palmerston had long been considered a conservative stronghold, and for the first eight years of its life, Drysdale was considered to be a safe seat for the Country Liberal Party.
