Družstevná Pri Hornáde
Družstevná pri Hornáde is a village and municipality of the Košice-okolie District, located in the Kosice Region of eastern Slovakia. Etymology The name is derived from "Jednotné roľnícke družstvo", which was a type of agricultural cooperative that was common during the Soviet era. History Družstevná pri Hornáde was originally 3 villages: Malá Vieska, Kostoľany nad Hornádom and Tepličany. They were combined into one administrative area during the Soviet era. Kostoľany nad Hornádom became an independent municipality in 2003. Geography The village lies at an altitude of 258 metres and covers an area of 16.466 km². The municipality has a population of about 2,185 people. The River Hornád flows through the village. Košice-okolie District
Košice–okolie District (''okres Košice–okolie''; hu, Kassa-vidéki járás) is a district in the Košice Region of eastern Slovakia. It surrounds the city of Košice, which serves as the district seat although it does not belong to the district. History The Košice–okolie district was a part of Great Moravia until the 10th century. After the district fell apart, the area was incorporated into Abaúj and Torna, which were counties of the Kingdom of Hungary. The region was a part of Abaúj-Torna County from 1882 until the end of World War I. It then became part of the newly formed Czechoslovakia. Excluding a small section in the north, the district formed a part of Abovsko-turnianská župa of the county of Šariš from 1918 to 1923. Hornád
Hornád ( Slovak, ) or Hernád ( Hungarian, ) is a river in eastern Slovakia and north-eastern Hungary. It is a tributary to the river Slaná (Sajo). The source of the Hornád is the eastern slopes of Kráľova hoľa hill, south of Šuňava. The river is 286 km long, with 178 km located in Slovakia, and the remaining 108 km in Hungary.
