Driss Chraïbi
Driss Chraïbi (July 15, 1926 – April 1, 2007) was a Moroccan author whose novels deal with colonialism, culture clashes, generational conflict and the treatment of women and are often perceived as semi-autobiographical. Born in El Jadida and educated in Casablanca, Chraïbi went to Paris in 1945 to study chemistry before turning to literature and journalism. Life Driss Chraïbi was born to a merchant family in French Morocco but was later raised in Casablanca. He attended the Koranic school before joining the M'hammed Guessous School in Rabat, followed by the Lycée Lyautey in Casablanca. In 1945 he went to university in Paris, where, in 1950, he earned a degree in chemical engineering. After obtaining his degree, he abandoned science before the doctorate. Instead, he earned his living from a string of odd jobs, before turning to literature and journalism. Bordj Omar Driss is a town and commune in In Amenas District, Illizi Province, Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 5,736, up from 3,547 in 1998, and an annual population growth rate of 5.0%. Its postal code is 33210 and its municipal code is 3304. Driss Benhima ( ar, إدريس بنهيمة; born 28 May 1954) is a Moroccan businessman. Former chairman of the board and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, the national airline of Morocco. Career Benhima joined Office Cherifien des Phosphates (OCP), Moroccan state-owned phosphate world leader, as a junior field engineer in Khouribga. After the first 6 years he spent there, he became Mining Facilities Manager. He was appointed in 1990 CEO of Casablanca-based Société Marocaine d'Oxygène et d' Acétylène, Moroccan subsidiary of Air Liquide group, world leader in industrial gases. On 19 March 1994, he was appointed CEO of Office National de l'Electricité (ONE), Morocco's national power authority. He has notably tackled the issue of insufficient access to electricity in rural communities. The global rural electrification program's objective was to generalize access before 2010. Driss R. Temsamani ( ar, إدريس التمسماني; born 1966) is a Miami-based Moroccan American diaspora activist, public speaker, author, and managing director at Citigroup in his role as Latin America Regional Digital Channels and Data Head. Early life Temsamani was born in Tangier, Morocco. He is the grand son of General Driss Riffi Temsamani who was named Pasha of the Rif Republic in 1926 then Asila, Larache and Tetuan. Driss emigrated to the United States in 1986. where he established TelQuel Magazine. Years later, Temsamani enrolled himself in business studies. He is a holder of an MBA from Ohio State University, an Executive MBA in Industrial marketing from IAE Universidad Austral in Buenos Aires, Argentina and an Executive Leadership from Harvard. Driss Debbagh
Driss Debbagh (in Arabic : إدريس الدباغ) (born November 7, 1921 in Marrakech, Morocco – 1986), was a Moroccan ambassador to Italy (1959–1961) and a Minister (government), minister of commerce, Industrial sector, industry, mining and merchant navy (from June 1963 to November 1963). He was also vice-president and chairman of Banque Commerciale du Maroc through a private company NAMIRI S.A. of which he owned 93% of the shares. Driss Debbagh was the son of Tayed ibn Brahim Debbagh and his second wife Zahra bint Mohammed Soussi. He was fluent in Berber, Arabic, French, English and Italian. Driss Jettou ( ar, إدريس جطو; born 24 May 1945) is a Moroccan politician, who served as the Prime Minister of Morocco from 2002 to 2007. Early life and education Jettou was born in the town of El Jadida on 24 May 1945. After secondary studies at ''El Khawarizmi'' college in Casablanca, he obtained a technical Baccalauréat in mathematics in 1964. Driss Ksikes (born 1968 in Casablanca) is a Moroccan journalist. Career He had been an editor-in-chief of the francophone Tel Quel magazine. In 2006, he left TelQuel to be the editor-in-chief and director of publication of the arabophone and darijophone Nichane magazine. Ksikes wrote two plays ( "Ils" and " Le Saint des Incertains" and published a novel: ''Ma boite noire''. His article "L’image (délicate) des Prophètes" was the subject to several complaints of antisemitism in Belgium and France whereby he accused the Jews to have as religion business and politics. In December 2006, Ksikes and another journalist, Sanaa al-Aji, were prosecuted for "defaming Islam and damaging morality" after the publication of a subject treating the Moroccan Humour.
