Drew Rucinski
Drew James Rucinski (born December 30, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Minnesota Twins, and Miami Marlins, and in the KBO League for the NC Dinos. Career Cleveland Indians Rucinski played college baseball at Ohio State University for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2008 to 2011. He was signed by the Cleveland Indians as an undrafted free agent in 2011. In 2012 and 2013 he played for the Rockford RiverHawks / Aviators of the Frontier League. Los Angeles Angels In August 2013 he signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Rucinski was called up to the majors for the first time on July 10, 2014. College baseball is baseball that is played on the intercollegiate level at institutions of higher education. In comparison to football and basketball, college competition in the United States plays a smaller role in developing professional players, as baseball's professional minor leagues are more extensive, with a greater history of supplying players to MLB. Moving directly from high school to the professional level is more common in baseball than in football or basketball. Frontier League
The Frontier League is a professional independent baseball league with teams in the Northeastern and Midwestern United States and Eastern Canada. Formed in 1993, it is the oldest currently running independent league in the United States. The league is headquartered in Sauget, Illinois. In 2020, the Frontier League, together with the American Association and the Atlantic League, became an official MLB Partner League. The league has a partnership agreement with the California Winter League for player development. The Rockford Aviators were a professional baseball team based in Rockford, Illinois that played in the independent Frontier League. Rockford previously had a team in the Frontier League called the RiverHawks (2002-2009). There was no Rockford team in the Frontier League in 2010 as the team played in the independent Northern League.
