Prilep
Prilep ( mk, Прилеп ) is the fourth-largest city in North Macedonia. It has a population of 66,246 and is known as "the city under Marko's Towers" because of its proximity to the towers of Prince Marko. Name The name of Prilep appeared first as ''Πρίλαπος''. The old fortress was attached to the rocky hilltop, and its name means “stuck” ''on the rocks'' in Old Church Slavonic. It was mentioned by John Skylitzes in relation with Samuel of Bulgaria, who died here in 1014. A pine is any conifer tree or shrub in the genus ''Pinus'' () of the family Pinaceae. ''Pinus'' is the sole genus in the subfamily Pinoideae. Beech
Beech (''Fagus'') is a genus of deciduous trees in the family Fagaceae, native to temperate Europe, Asia, and North America. Recent classifications recognize 10 to 13 species in two distinct subgenera, ''Engleriana'' and ''Fagus''. Belovodica
Belovodica is a village in Municipality of Prilep, North Macedonia. Geography The village is located in the Dren mountain range east of Prilep. History In the 19th century, Belovodica was a Macedonian village in the Prilep region of the Ottoman Empire. According to the statistics of Vasil Kanchov's book Macedonia: Ethnography And Statistics published in 1900, Belovodica had a population of 510 people, all Macedonian Christians. Sivec
Sivec is the trademark of the dolomitic marble extracted from the quarries of Mermeren Kombinat A.D., near the town of Prilep in North Macedonia. The fine grain makes it ideal for sculpture and architectural applications. History The extraction of Sivec marble can be dated back 500 BCE and earlier. Extraction flourished under the Roman period when the quarries near the ancient city of Stibera (today Prilep) produced stone for the production of Roman sculptures, as well as replicas of Greek original bronzes. These replicas went to Rome or to other parts of the empire. Sivec is a renowned material that was extensively utilized in southeastern Europe from the 3rd century BCE until the 5th century CE, giving rise to some of the most visually breathtaking creations of the ancient world.
