Dreams Of Bali
''Dreams of Bali'' is a radio drama, produced by the ZBS Foundation.ZBS.orglink (Dreams of Bali) It is the eight of the Jack Flanders adventure series and the third of the Travels with Jack sub-series. It combines elements of American culture, Old-time radio and Sufism. Plot Jack travels to Bali to visit an old friend, Tiffany, and finds himself immersed in a saga of jealousy that extends down from the gods themselves to the mere mortals who fall under their spell. A spectral Balinese holy man helps Jack to become an avatar of Rangda, Queen of Witches in a dangerous attempt to save Tiffany from her plight. Notes & Themes In Midnight at the Casa Luna, Jack is reminded of another Casa Luna cafe he says that he visited while in Ubud, Bali - i.e. during this story. While Dreams of Bali does not mention that cafe, there is a Nani working at the Cafe Wayan. Both Nanis are played by Phoebe Moon but there is no recognition between the characters. ''Dreams of the Amazon'' is a radio drama, produced by the ZBS Foundation.ZBS.orglink (Dreams of the Amazon) It is the sixth of the Jack Flanders adventure series and the first of the Travels with Jack sub-series. It combines elements of American culture and Old-time radio with themes of lost cities, jungle exploration and shamanism. It is a loose sequel to Dreams of Rio and while it is not necessary to have heard that story first it will help to understand some of the references. Plot Jack finds his life in New York being haunted by visions of the Crystal Skull (from Dreams of Rio) appearing to him in the form of a very beautiful woman who then proceeds to peel away her flesh to reveal the skull beneath, all the while imploring Jack to "take me home". ''Dreams of the Blue Morpho'' is a radio drama, produced by the ZBS Foundation.ZBS.or''Dreams of the Blue Morpho'' It is the thirteenth of the Jack Flanders adventure series and the first of the Travelling Jack sub-series. It combines elements of Old-time radio with psychic phenomena, supernatural beings and energies. Plot Mojo is playing piano at Senior Frog's in Costa Rica. He needs Jack to help him out with a problem his new friend Amy has been having all her life but which seems to be getting worse. A sinister light hovers close to her from time to time and it doesn't seem to like her boyfriends. In order to lure it out, Jack suggests that he and Amy pretend to be involved and before he knows it he's up to his neck in Candomblé and the Orishas once again. It immediately precedes but is not part of the "Travels with Jack" adventures, each of which is entitled ''Dreams of ...'' Recording and Writing Thomas Lopez, the author and director, of the drama spent a month in Brazil digitally recording sounds of the Amazonian rain forest and Brazilian cities. He first recorded the location sounds and then wrote the story around the sounds he recorded. More than 20 hours of sounds were recorded by Lopez in Brazil to be used for the story's aural setting. The story's script continued to evolve as Lopez worked with the drama's actors and composer, Tim Clark. The Golden Age of Radio, also known as the old-time radio (OTR) era, was an era of radio in the United States where it was the dominant electronic home entertainment medium.
