Dream Tower
Dream Tower ( ko, 드림 타워) was a 665 m megatall skyscraper proposed for the new Yongsan International Business District, Seoul, South Korea. It would replace the original Triple One Tower. The Triple One Tower was supposed to be 620 meters. However, it has been renamed Dream tower (Korial Tower), and has been redesigned. With 150 stories, the building was going to be the centrepiece of the Yongsan Dreamhub, a 28-trillion-won ($22.6-billion) project to be built on the banks of the Han River near Yongsan Station. Demolition of the site started in 2010 and ground breaking was scheduled to start in 2011. As of 2013, the Yongsan Dreamhub plans have been cancelled. Han River (Korea)
The Han River or Hangang () is a major river in South Korea and the fourth longest river on the Korean peninsula after the Yalu River, Amnok (Yalu), Tumen River, Tuman (Tumen), and Nakdong rivers. The river begins as two smaller rivers in the eastern mountains of the Korean peninsula, which then converge near Seoul, the capital of the country. The Hangang River and its surrounding area have played an important role in Korean history. The Three Kingdoms of Korea strove to take control of this land, where the river was used as a trade route to China (via the Yellow Sea). The river is no longer actively used for navigation, because its estuary is located at the Korean Demilitarized Zone, borders of the two Koreas, barred for entrance by any civilian. A skyscraper is a tall continuously habitable building having multiple floors. Modern sources currently define skyscrapers as being at least or in height, though there is no universally accepted definition. Skyscrapers are very tall high-rise buildings. This list of tallest buildings in Seoul ranks skyscrapers in the South Korean capital city of Seoul by height. The tallest in the city is currently the 555 m (1,821 ft) Lotte World Tower with 123 floors. Yongsan Dreamhub (also known as the Yongsan International Business District) is a 28 – 31 trillion-won ($22.6 – $27 billion) project that was planned to be built on the banks of the Han River near Yongsan Station at the area of the Yongsan District, central Seoul, South Korea. Background The Yongsan District is a relatively large area of the megalopolis of Seoul that is seen as not significantly developed. It is a site of the American Yongsan Garrison which covers 16% of the district. The development proposal aimed to turn it into a modern sprawl of offices, malls, hotels and apartments, hoping to create a new signature district of Korea.
