Doug Slack (comics)
Douglas John Slack (born 5 April 1941) is a former Australian politician. He was the National Party member for Burnett in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1986 to 2001. Slack was born in Gayndah, Queensland, and was a farmer and businessman before entering politics. He served on the Opposition front bench from 1990 to 1995, holding the portfolios of Family Servinces and Aboriginal and Islander Affairs and Treasury (1990–1992) and Environment and Heritage (1992–1996). Electoral District Of Burnett
Burnett is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in central Queensland, Australia. It covers most of the coastal region south of Gladstone, as well as coastal and inland regions completely surrounding the district of Bundaberg. Towns within its boundaries include Miriam Vale, Agnes Water, Rosedale, Bargara, Woodgate and Childers. The Burnett River flows through the electoral district, hence its name. Claude Alfred Wharton (15 October 1914 – 3 January 2003) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Wharton was born at Gayndah, Queensland, the son of William Alfred Wharton and his wife Daisy May (née Schlemer). He was educated at Ginoondan State School before attending Maryborough Grammar School. He was a grazier and a breeder of stud cattle and pigs. He later became a director of the Queensland Bacon Pty Ltd and the Queensland Cold Storage Cooperative Federation Ltd. Trevor Strong
Trevor Leonard Strong (born 26 February 1961) is a former Australian politician. He was a Labor member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 2001 to 2004, representing the seat of Burnett. Strong was a qualified carpenter before entering parliament, and is married with four children. He was previously President of the Moore Park Branch of the ALP. He was elected to the seat of Burnett in Labor's landslide win in 2001, but was defeated at the next election in 2004. He has not returned to State politics. He was elected as a councillor on the Burnett Shire Council for the final term before amalgamation: 2004-2008. Gayndah is a town and locality in the North Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Gayndah had a population of 1,981 people. It is the administrative centre for the North Burnett Region. Geography Gayndah is on the Burnett River and the Burnett Highway passes through the town. Apart from the town in the western part of the locality, the land is used for cropping and grazing. The Gayndah railway station is located on the north side of the river and is on the Mungar Junction to Monto Branch railway line. Duchess Mountain is immediately to the south-west of the town () and at provides excellent views over the town ( above sea level). Gayndah is north of the state capital, Brisbane, and west of the regional city of Maryborough. Agriculture and grazing have been the dominant industries of the area. The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting.
