Trevor Strong
Trevor Leonard Strong (born 26 February 1961) is a former Australian politician. He was a Labor member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 2001 to 2004, representing the seat of Burnett. Strong was a qualified carpenter before entering parliament, and is married with four children. He was previously President of the Moore Park Branch of the ALP. He was elected to the seat of Burnett in Labor's landslide win in 2001, but was defeated at the next election in 2004. He has not returned to State politics. He was elected as a councillor on the Burnett Shire Council for the final term before amalgamation: 2004-2008. Electoral District Of Burnett
Burnett is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in central Queensland, Australia. It covers most of the coastal region south of Gladstone, as well as coastal and inland regions completely surrounding the district of Bundaberg. Towns within its boundaries include Miriam Vale, Agnes Water, Rosedale, Bargara, Woodgate and Childers. The Burnett River flows through the electoral district, hence its name. The Bundaberg Region is a local government area in the Wide Bay–Burnett region of Queensland, Australia, about north of Brisbane, the state capital. It is centred on the city of Bundaberg, and also contains a significant rural area surrounding the city. It was created in 2008 from a merger of the City of Bundaberg with the Shires of Burnett, Isis and Kolan. 2001 Queensland State Election
An election was held in the Australian state of Queensland on 17 February 2001 to elect the 89 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The result of the election was the return of the Labor Party (ALP) government of Premier Peter Beattie, with an increased majority. Labor won 66 seats, easily the most it has ever won in Queensland and one of Labor's best-ever results nationwide. There was a 10.07% swing towards Labor, while One Nation suffered a 13.98% swing against it, losing eight seats (five of which were held by the newly formed City Country Alliance after an internal split in December 1999). The longstanding coalition between the Nationals and Liberals, led by Nationals leader (and former premier) Rob Borbidge recorded only a 2.39% swing against it. Doug Slack
Douglas John Slack (born 5 April 1941) is a former Australian politician. He was the National Party member for Burnett in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1986 to 2001. Slack was born in Gayndah, Queensland, and was a farmer and businessman before entering politics. Legislative Assembly Of Queensland
The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting. The Assembly has 93 members, who have used the letters MP after their names since 2000 (previously they were styled MLAs).
