Doug Livingston
Douglas Roy Livingston (born April 15, 1954) is an educator and former political figure in the Yukon, Canada. He represented Lake Laberge in the Yukon Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 1999 as a NDP member. He was born in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan, the son of Roy Livingston and Elsie Anderson, and was educated at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Oregon. Livingston was a teacher and principal. He defeated the incumbent Mickey Fisher in 1996 by only three votes. Livingston served as Speaker for the assembly briefly in 1997. Yukon (; ; formerly called Yukon Territory and also referred to as the Yukon) is the smallest and westernmost of Canada's three territories. Lake Laberge (electoral District)
Lake Laberge is an electoral district which returns a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of the Yukon Territory in Canada. It is one of the Yukon's eight rural districts and is named after the eponymous Lake Laberge, which is within the riding. Lake Laberge encompasses the Whitehorse subdivisions of MacPherson, and Hidden Valley, as well as the residents of the Takhini Hot Springs Road, Pilot Mountain, the Hamlet of Ibex Valley, and the North Klondike Highway and Lake Laberge as far as Braeburn Lodge. The riding is also part of the traditional territory of the Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation, the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations, the Kwanlin Dün First Nation, and the Ta'an Kwach'an Council. Mickey Fisher (born December 22, 1940—December 22, 2021) is a Canadian politician, who served in the Legislative Assembly of Yukon from 1992 to 1996. He represented the electoral district of Lake Laberge as a member of the Yukon Party. First elected in the 1992 election, he served in the cabinet of John Ostashek as Minister of Renewable Resources. Robert Bruce (Yukon Politician)
Robert Bruce (born July 12, 1948) is a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Vuntut Gwitchin in the Yukon Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2000. He was a member of the Yukon New Democratic Party. He was born in Old Crow, Yukon and was educated in the Yukon. After a tied vote between Bruce and incumbent MLA Esau Schafer in the 1996 election, Bruce was chosen as the victor by his name being drawn out of a hat. A court order in 1997 overturned the results and mandated a new by-election in the riding, which Bruce won. He served as Speaker for the assembly from 1996 until his election was overturned in February 1997 and from April 14, 1997 until the assembly was dissolved in 2000.
