Doug Dean
Doug Dean (born December 31, 1960) is an American politician from the state of Colorado. Dean was born in Story City, Iowa and attended Tennessee Temple University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. A Republican, he represented the 18th district representing north Colorado Springs the Colorado House of Representatives from 1994 to 2003, and served as House Majority leader from 1999 to 2001 and Speaker of the House from 2001 to 2003. In 1998, Dean was the House sponsor of Senate Bill 171, which created the Metropolitan Football Stadium District for thDenver Broncos After approval from the voters of the district, it resulted in the demolition of Mile High Stadium and the construction of a new stadium. It is currently known as Empower Field at Mile High. Dean was a proponent of the state's public charter schools, and in 2001 passed the first bill to fully fund charter schools after a three year battle. Tennessee Temple University
Tennessee Temple University was a private Christian university in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Temple Baptist Seminary was the university's graduate school of Christian theology, also operating in Chattanooga. The university merged with Piedmont International University in 2015. History Tennessee Temple was founded in 1946 under the leadership and vision of Dr. Lee Roberson. As the pastor of a prominent Southern Baptist church, Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Roberson saw a need to train people for ministry through higher education. Story City is a city in Story County, Iowa. It is located within the Ames, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area which envelops the entirety of Story County and combined with the Boone, Iowa Micropolitan Statistical Area makes up the larger Ames-Boone, Iowa Combined Statistical Area. The population was 3,352 in the 2020 census, a slight increase from 3,228 in 2000. History Story City was known as Fairview throughout much of its early history. The named changed in 1881 when the town established a post office and discovered that the Fairview name was already in use for another town. Story City was renamed after Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story.
