Double Horn is an incorporated city in Burnet County, Texas, United States. Until its incorporation in 2019, Double Horn was part of the community of Spicewood. Geography Double Horn is located at (30.494052, -98.222719). It is situated just north of State Highway 71 in southern Burnet County, approximately four miles west-northwest of Spicewood and five miles southeast of Marble Falls. The nearest major city is Austin, located 26 miles southeast of Double Horn. Climate The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen climate classification, Double Horn has a humid subtropical climate, ''Cfa'' on climate maps. Burnet County ( ) is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 49,130. Its county seat is Burnet. The county was founded in 1852 and later organized in 1854. It is named for David Gouverneur Burnet, the first (provisional) president of the Republic of Texas. The name of the county is pronounced with the emphasis or accent on the first syllable, just as is the case with its namesake. History Indigenous peoples inhabited the area as early as 4500 BC. Spicewood, Texas
Spicewood is an unincorporated community in Travis County and partially in Burnet County, Texas, United States. According to the Texas Almanac, the community had an estimated population of 2,000 in 2000. But in the 2011 census, the community had a population of 7,666. The community also extends towards Travis County off Highway 71. The community-proper, located at the intersection of C.R 404 and Spur 191, is home to a community center, a former two-room local schoolhouse that was closed after merging with Marble Falls ISD. The community also contains a non-denominational church and a Church of Christ and was formerly the home of BJ Cafe, reputed to have been an occasional favorite of Willie Nelson. Texas State Highway 71
State Highway 71 (SH 71) is a Texas state highway that runs . The northern terminus is at US 87 and US 377 south of Brady and its southern terminus is at SH 35 near Blessing. This highway is designated the "10th Mountain Division Highway" from SH 95 to Interstate 35. History SH 71 was originally designated on August 21, 1923 from Austin to Columbus, replacing SH 3D and the western half of SH 3A. On June 8, 1925, SH 71 was extended to Midfield, though this was not effective until 1926. On March 19, 1928, it extended south to its current end. On June 21, 1938, SH 71 Spur was designated in Columbus. Lake Marble Falls is part of the Highland Lakes on the Colorado River, the largest chain of lakes in Texas. Köppen Climate Classification
The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936. Warren Kenneth Paxton Jr. (born December 23, 1962) is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the Attorney General of Texas since January 2015. Paxton has described himself as a Tea Party conservative. Paxton was re-elected to a third term as Attorney General on November 8, 2022. Marble Falls Independent School District ("MFISD") is a school district based in the city of Marble Falls, in Burnet County, Texas, USA which is located in the heart of the Highland Lakes region of the Texas Hill Country.
