Dookie, Victoria
Dookie ( /ˈduːki/) is a town in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria, Australia. It is situated in a valley between Mount Major and Mount Saddleback. Dookie is a farming community. At the 2021 census, Dookie had a population of 333. Dookie is five minutes by car from Dookie College, jointly managed by the Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE and University of Melbourne since 2005. Dookie has many sporting and community groups as well as a cycling track, the Dookie rail trail. The rail trail was opened by the mayor of Greater Shepparton, Michael Polan, in 2012. The post office opened around February 1878, was replaced by Dookie Railway Station office in 1888 when the railway arrived, which was then renamed Dookie in 1901. Melbourne ( ; Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: ''Narrm'' or ''Naarm'') is the capital and most populous city of the Australian state of Victoria, and the second-most populous city in both Australia and Oceania. Dookie College
Melbourne University, Dookie campus (formerly known as Dookie Agricultural College) is an agricultural campus of Melbourne University near the town of Dookie, Victoria. It is the oldest agricultural college in Victoria. The campus has a broadacre farm, dairy farm, orchard and winery, alongside teaching facilities, supporting both research and the university's Bachelor of Agriculture and other courses delivered there. It was established as the Dookie Agricultural College on 4 October 1886, operated by the Council of Agricultural Education. The establishment followed a decade of discussion about the possibility of establishing an agricultural college, with the pre-existing Dookie Experimental Farm site reserved in 1875. It was the first of a planned series of agricultural colleges in Victoria and at its opening, had forty students undertaking a three-year course. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. The City of Greater Shepparton is a local government area in the Hume region of Victoria, Australia, located in the north-east part of the state. It covers an area of and, in June 2018, had a population of 66,007. The 2021 Australian census, simply called the 2021 Census, was the eighteenth national Census of Population and Housing in Australia. The 2021 Census took place on 10 August 2021, and was conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as 25,422,788 – an increase of 8.6 per cent or 2,020,896 people over the previous 2016 census.
