Donis D
Donis is a Lithuanian ambient, neofolk and experimental music project created by the Klaipėda multi-instrumentalist Donatas Bielkauskas. He was also a member of electronic music projects ''Wejdas'', ''Notanga'', ''Ha Lela'', ''Eirimė''. Donis has released 8 CDs. Most of Donis’ works are musical interpretations of Baltic tribal ethnomusic. His most well known album is ''Bitė Lingo''. It has 8 archaic Lithuanian war songs interpreted by folk vocalist Rasa Serra. The album ''Švilpiai'' contains ancient ocarina (švilpynė) music. The album ''Sotvaras'' is made together with famous Lithuanian pagan band Kūlgrinda members. Donis has also made an album of a Greek mythology theme ''Alexandreia'' and some experimental-electronic works. Klaipėda
Klaipėda (; ; german: Memel; pl, Kłajpeda; russian: Клайпеда; sgs, Klaipieda) is a city in Lithuania on the Baltic Sea coast. The capital of the eponymous county, it is the third largest city and the only major seaport in Lithuania. The city has a complex recorded history, partially due to the combined regional importance of the usually ice-free Port of Klaipėda at the mouth of the river . Neofolk
Neofolk, also known as apocalyptic folk, is a form of experimental music blending elements of folk and industrial music, which emerged in punk rock circles in the 1980s. Neofolk may either be solely acoustic or combine acoustic folk instrumentation with various other sounds. History The term "neofolk" originates from esoteric music circles who started using the term in the late 20th century to describe music influenced by musicians such as Douglas Pearce (Death In June), Tony Wakeford (Sol Invictus) and David Tibet (Current 93). Ocarina
The ocarina is a wind musical instrument; it is a type of vessel flute. Variations exist, but a typical ocarina is an enclosed space with four to twelve finger holes and a mouthpiece that projects from the body. It is traditionally made from clay or ceramic, but other materials are also used, such as plastic, wood, glass, metal, or bone. Kūlgrinda is a folk music group from Vilnius, Lithuania, established in 1989 by Inija Trinkūnienė, Inija and Jonas Trinkūnas. The group is connected to the Baltic neopaganism, Lithuanian neopagan movement Romuva (religion), Romuva and often performs as a part of the movement's ceremonies.
