The Billie Jean King Cup (or the BJK Cup) is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The name was changed to the Fed Cup in 1995, and changed again in September 2020 in honor of former World No. 1 Billie Jean King. The Billie Jean King Cup is the world's largest annual women's international team sports competition in terms of the number of nations that compete. The current Chairperson is Katrina Adams. Jeļena Ostapenko
Jeļena Ostapenko (born 8 June 1997), also known as Aļona Ostapenko, is a Latvian professional tennis player. She has career-high WTA rankings of world No. 5 in singles, achieved on 19 March 2018, and world No. 9 in doubles, reached on 22 August 2022. Ostapenko won the 2017 French Open singles title, becoming the first player from Latvia to win a Grand Slam singles tournament and the first unseeded player to win the French Open since 1933. Kosovo Fed Cup Team
The Kosovo Fed Cup team represents Kosovo in Fed Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Tennis Federation of Kosovo. They took part in the Fed Cup for the first time in 2016, competing in the Europe/Africa Zone Group III. History On 28 March 2015, Tennis Europe granted membership to the Tennis Federation of Kosovo, which became effective in 2016. In December 2015, the Federation announced that it would compete at the 2016 Fed Cup in the Europe/Africa Zone Group III. Kosovo would then compete two years later in the 2018 Fed Cup in the Europe/Africa Zone Group III facing in Pool B host Tunisia as well as Cyprus, Algeria and Madagascar as their opponents.
