History The Dongfeng Fengxing Jingyi (景逸) was originally a compact MPV produced by Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor under the Dongfeng Fengxing sub-brand. Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor
Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group, located in the city of Liuzhou, Guangxi, China. Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor was founded in 1954 and entered the field of automobile production in 1969. It manufactures passenger cars sold in China under the brand Dongfeng Forthing (Fengxing, ); these include the Jingyi small multi-purpose vehicle also known as Joyear, the Jingyi S50 sedan and the S500 large multi-purpose vehicle, as well as two types of vans, the Ling Zhi (also known as Future) and the CM7. Compact MPV
Compact MPV (an abbreviation for Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle) is a vehicle size class for the middle size of MPVs. The Compact MPV size class sits between the mini MPV and large MPV (minivan) size classes. Compact MPVs remain predominantly a European phenomenon, although they are also built and sold in many Latin American and Asian markets. As of 2016, the only compact MPV sold widely in the United States was the Ford C-Max. Characteristics The flexibility of the interior seating is a common theme amongst compact MPVs. Many models have seats that can be individually folded or easily removed, and the upright seating positions maximises use of the interior space. The Forthing Jingyi X5 is a compact CUV produced by Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor under the Jingyi product series of the Forthing (Dongfeng Fengxing) sub-brand. First generation (Fengxing Jingyi X5 I) The first generation Dongfeng Fengxing Jingyi X5 was originally named simply Dongfeng Fengxing Jingyi. It was a compact MPV produced by Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor under the Dongfeng Fengxing sub-brand based on a modified chassis of the Mitsubishi Grandis. The only engine for the Jingyi is a 1.6 liter with 122hp and 155nm, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. A version with different grilles and crossover cues including plastic claddings around the wheel arches and bumpers was also available as the Dongfeng Fengxing Jingyi LV or Dongfeng Fengxing Jingyi SUV before the facelift. The Forthing Jingyi S50 is a compact sedan produced by Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor under the Jingyi product series of the Forthing or Dongfeng Fengxing sub-brand. Overview The Forthing Jingyi S50 sedan debuted during the 2014 Beijing Auto Show as the Dongfeng Fengxing Jingyi S50 and was launched on the China car market in later 2014. The Jingyi S50 compact sedan shares the same platform as the Dongfeng Fengshen A60 compact sedan with both cars based on the Nissan Sylphy produced by the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture in China. The styling of the Jingyi S50 at launch was heavily inspired by the Hyundai Sonata with similar front DRG designs despite being in a smaller segment.
