Doncaster IPort
Doncaster iPort or Doncaster Inland Port is an intermodal rail terminal; a ''Strategic Rail Freight Interchange'', under construction in Rossington, Doncaster at junction 3 of the M18 motorway in England. It is to be connected to the rail network via the line of the former South Yorkshire Joint Railway, and from an extension of the former Rossington Colliery branch from the East Coast Main Line. The development includes a intermodal rail terminal to be built on green belt land, of which over was to be developed into warehousing, making it the largest rail terminal in Yorkshire; the development also included over of countryside, the majority of which was to remain in agricultural use, with other parts used for landscaping, and habitat creation as part of environment mitigation measures. Doncaster Sheffield Airport , formerly named and commonly referred to as Robin Hood Airport, is an unscheduled international airport closed to passenger traffic. The airport is located in Finningley near Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. The site lies south-east of the centre of Doncaster and east of Sheffield. It opened to passengers in 2005, operated by Peel Airports, a division of The Peel Group. The closed airport has a CAA Public Use Aerodrome Licence that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction. It had 1.22 million passengers in 2018. The airport was one of two commercial international airports in Yorkshire, along with Leeds Bradford Airport. A6182 Road
The A6182 is a dual carriageway in Doncaster that runs west and north from the former Doncaster Sheffield Airport to junction 3 of the M18 and then on to Doncaster town centre. The road is named "White Rose Way" north of the M18, and "Great Yorkshire Way" south of the M18. The road's purpose is to link the town centre with the M18, from which drivers can reach the A1 and M1, and Doncaster Sheffield Airport. 21st century extensions The upgrade of the part of the road from Lakeside Village Outlet to the M18 to dual carriageway was completed in June 2013. Jeffrey Ennis (born 13 November 1952) is a British Labour Party politician, who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Barnsley East and Mexborough from 1996 to 2010, having been first elected at the Barnsley East by-election. Early life and education Ennis was born in Grimethorpe, near Barnsley in the West Riding of Yorkshire, the son of a coal miner and educated at the Hemsworth Grammar School on Station Road before attending the Redland Teachers Training College near Bristol where he was awarded a Bachelor of Education degree in 1975.
