Donald Sullivan
Brother Donald Sullivan, OSF was an American academic of Canadian descent. From 1969 to 1995, Sullivan served as the 16th President of St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York. His 26 years as president is the longest at St. Francis College. Brother Sullivan served on several boards including the Helen Keller Services for the Blind and Ridgewood Savings Bank. He also was director of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Brooklyn Development Association. St. Francis College Brother Sullivan took over after Brother Urban Gonnoud resigned in 1969, he served as president for 11 years prior to resigning. Brother Sullivan was 38 years old when he took over. During Brother Sullivan's tenure, St. Francis College became coeducational and its enrollment exceeded 3,000 students for the first time in its history. Franciscan
The Franciscans are a group of related Mendicant orders, mendicant Christianity, Christian Catholic religious order, religious orders within the Catholic Church. The Generoso Pope Athletic Complex, also known as The Pope, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. It is located on Remsen Street, between Court and Clinton Streets, within the St. Francis College campus. The Pope is named after Generoso Pope, an Italian immigrant who rose to prominence in New York City through his entrepreneurship and charity. The Pope is composed of three levels, on the lower level is the Aquatics Center, above it is the Daniel Lynch Gymnasium and on top is the Genovesi Center. Ridgewood Savings Bank is the largest mutual savings bank in New York State and was founded in 1921. It operates 35 branches across New York City's five boroughs, Long Island and Westchester County. Helen Keller Services for the Blind is an American organization that helps the blind develop independence. Since 1893 Helen Keller Services for the Blind's mission has been to help individuals of all ages who are blind or visually impaired, and who may have additional disabilities, develop independence.
