Donald Petersen
Donald Eugene Petersen (born September 4, 1926) is an American businessman who was employed by the Ford Motor Company for 40 years, most notably as its chief executive officer from 1985 to 1990. Early life Donald Eugene Petersen was born in Pipestone, Minnesota. Petersen served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and the Korean War. He received his B.S./ M.E. from the University of Washington in 1946. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Career Tenure at Ford (1949–1990) Donald E. Petersen joined Ford in 1949 after receiving his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Prior to his election as chairman, Petersen was President and COO (chief operating officer) from March 13, 1980. Ford Tempo
The Ford Tempo and its Mercury counterpart the Topaz, are compact cars produced by the Ford Motor Company for model years 1984 to 1994. They were the downsized successors to the Ford Fairmont and Mercury Zephyr respectively. The Tempo and Topaz were the second in a series of aerodynamically-styled cars from Ford, preceded by the 1983 Ford Thunderbird and followed by the first generation Ford Taurus. Although Ford tried to portray the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique that arrived in 1995 as new, up-market models, they are generally seen as the successors of the Tempo and Topaz. Harold Arthur "Red" Poling (October 14, 1925 – May 12, 2012) was a U.S. automobile businessman. Early life Harold Arthur Poling was born in Troy, Michigan, but grew up in Fairfax, Virginia.
