Dominique Grenier
Dominique Grenier (born 1931) was a local politician in Shawinigan, Quebec. He was the 17th Mayor of Shawinigan, Quebec from 1970 to 1986. He was born in Shawinigan in 1931. Grenier was a City Councillor from 1969 to 1970. He successfully ran as Mayor of Shawinigan in 1970 against incumbent Maurice Bruneau and was re-elected in 1974, 1978 and 1982. He did not run for re-election in 1986. Grenier's mayorship was served under difficult circumstances. Many local businesses moved out of town or closed down. Under his administration, the Parc de l'Île Melville (then known as Parc des Chutes) was reorganized and expanded. Grenier ran again in 1994, but was overwhelmingly defeated by candidate Lise Landry. Shawinigan () is a city located on the Saint-Maurice River in the Mauricie area in Quebec, Canada. It had a population of 49,349 as of the 2016 Canadian census. Shawinigan is also a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and census division (CD) of Quebec, coextensive with the city of Shawinigan. Its geographical code is 36. Shawinigan is the seat of the judicial district of Saint-Maurice. The name Shawinigan has had numerous spellings over time: Chaouinigane, Oshaouinigane, Assaouinigane, Achawénégan, Chawinigame, Shawenigane, Chaouénigane. Maurice Bruneau
J.-Maurice Bruneau was a local politician in Shawinigan, Quebec. He was the 16th Mayor of Shawinigan from 1966 to 1970. He was born in 1908 in Saint-Maurice, Mauricie and once owned a butcher shop on 5e rue (Fifth Street). He was a member of the Richelieu Club and the Chamber of Commerce. Bruneau served as a council member from 1957 to 1966. He ran for mayor in Shawinigan in 1966 against incumbent Gérard Dufresne and won. Under his administration, the Centre des Arts (2100, boulevard des Hêtres) was completed. Bruneau ran for re-election in 1970, but was defeated by council member Dominique Grenier. He died in 2004. Lise Landry is a local politician in Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada. She was the 19th Mayor of the city from 1994 to 2009. Family and life prior to elective office She is married. Her husband's name is Henri. Her son Yves has been the Member for the District des Terrasses on the Trois-Rivières City Council. Prior to her election, she was political assistant to Liberal MNA Yvon Lemire. Mauricie () is a traditional and current administrative region of Quebec. La Mauricie National Park is contained within the region, making it a prime tourist location. The region has a land area of 35,860.05 km² (13,845.64 sq mi) and a population of 266,112 residents as of the 2016 Census. Its largest cities are Trois-Rivières and Shawinigan. Roland Désaulniers has been a local businessman and politician in Shawinigan, Quebec. He was the 18th Mayor of Shawinigan, Quebec from 1986 to 1994. He successfully ran as Mayor of Shawinigan in 1986 and was re-elected in 1990. He did not run for re-election in 1994.
