Dominic Boesel
Dominic Boesel (german: Dominic Bösel, born 24 October 1989) is a German professional boxer who has held the IBO light-heavyweight title since October 2021. He previously held the WBA interim and IBO light-heavyweight titles from 2019 to 2020. At regional level, he held the European light-heavyweight title from 2018 to 2019. Professional career Boesel made his professional debut on 20 November 2010, scoring a first-round technical knockout (TKO) victory over Patrick Baumann at the Freiberger Arena in Dresden, Germany. After compiling a record of 26–1 (10 KO), he challenged Serhiy Demchenko on 3 March 2018 for the vacant European light-heavyweight title at Stadthalle in Weissenfels, winning the title by unanimous decision. Two judges scored the bout 116–112 and the third scored it 118–110. The Arena Leipzig is a multipurpose indoor arena located in Leipzig, Germany. The capacity of the arena is 8,000 people for sporting events and up to 12,200 for shows and concerts. An interim championship is an alternate title that is awarded by the sanctioning bodies of professional boxing, and in other combat sports such as kickboxing, professional wrestling, and mixed martial arts. Occasionally, the champion of a particular weight division is temporarily unable to defend his championship because of medical, legal, or other reasons beyond the competitor's control. When this case occurs, two highly ranked contenders may fight for an interim championship of the same weight division – leading to two champions existing in the same weight division simultaneously. Once the original champion can return, at the discretion of the sanctioning body or promotion concerned, they must defend their title against the interim champion - who will relinquish their interim title to fight for the full world title.
