Doeville is an unincorporated community in Johnson County, Tennessee, United States. It is concentrated around the intersection of Tennessee State Route 67 and Tennessee State Route 167, west of Mountain City and east of Butler. The community of Pandora lies immediately to the northeast along S.R. 67. Doeville is situated in the lower Doe Creek Valley, near the stream's confluence with Roan Creek at the headwaters of Watauga Lake. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides, namely Sink Mountain to the south, Doe Mountain to the east, and the Iron Mountains to the north and west. Johnson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2010 census, the population was 18,244. Its county seat is Mountain City. It is the state's northeasternmost county, sharing borders with Virginia and North Carolina. History Johnson County was created in 1836 from parts of Carter County. This followed several years of bickering over the location of Carter County's seat, with residents of what is now Johnson County arguing that travel to Elizabethton was too lengthy and difficult. When their petition to move the seat to a more central location was rejected, they petitioned the state legislature for the creation of a new county. State Route 167 (SR 167) is a state highway in Johnson County, Tennessee and a spur route of Tennessee State Route 67. Route description SR 167 begins at an intersection with SR 67 in Doeville. It goes southeastward as Doe Creek Road and passes through a gap between two ridges before turning south and coming to an intersection with Lakeview Drive, where the highway skirts along the banks of Watauga Lake for a short distance. SR 167 then turns left to go northeast as Roan Creek Road and passes through some farmland before crisscrossing through some mountains. The highway then re-enters farmland and travels northeastward past Johnson County Airport. Mountain City is a town in and the county seat of Johnson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,383 at the 2000 census and 2,531 at the 2010 census. Roan Creek
Roan Creek is a tributary of the Watauga River that rises near the border between the U.S. states of Tennessee and North Carolina. Its source is located along the slopes of Snake Mountain near Trade in Johnson County, Tennessee. From its source, Roan Creek flows north, then turns west around the northern end of Stone Mountain. Then it flows south and west through Cherokee National Forest in the valley between Stone Mountain and Doe Mountain, until entering the Watauga River and Watauga Lake, the reservoir behind Watauga Dam. Its waters eventually flow through the Watauga River, the Holston River, the Tennessee River, the Ohio River, and the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico. Watauga Lake, located east of Elizabethton, Tennessee, is the local name of the Watauga Reservoir created by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) with the 1948 completion of the TVA Watauga Dam.
