Doctah X
Tony Harrington (born August 17, 1948, in Lexington, Kentucky), grew up in Bracktown, Lexington, Kentucky. He was often better known to his friends as Doctah X, was a DJ, singer, and musician who operated the House of Dub Studio in Columbus, Ohio, and hosted a radio program on WCRS Columbus. He died of natural causes on December 24, 2020, at his home in Columbus, Ohio. Career Doctah X's music was firmly rooted in Jamaican Reggae, and he ventured deeply into the realm of Reggae known as Dub music and Dubstep. His music encompassed Eastern and African sounds. He performed at clubs and festivals throughout the Midwest (Dayton Reggae Fest, Psych Fest in Columbus, and annually performed at Hot Times Festival and the Community Festival in Columbus, Ohio). He also performed at clubs and events in his native Kentucky, and in New York City at Roberta's, Tonic and The Knitting Factory. The Knitting Factory
The Knitting Factory is a nightclub in New York City that features eclectic music and entertainment. After opening in 1987, various other locations were opened in the United States. The Knitting Factory gave its audience poetry readings, performance art, standup comedy, and musicians who transcended the usual boundaries of rock and jazz, often experimental music. The Knitting Factory owners distributed some performances to radio stations, and around 1990 starting a radio show and the record label Knitting Factory Works. Ginger Baker
Peter Edward "Ginger" Baker (19 August 1939 – 6 October 2019) was an English drummer. His work in the 1960s and 1970s earned him the reputation of "rock's first superstar drummer", for a style that melded jazz and Music of Africa, African rhythms and pioneered both jazz fusion and world music. Baker gained early fame as a member of Blues Incorporated and the Graham Bond Organisation, both times alongside bassist Jack Bruce, with whom Baker would often clash. In 1966, Baker and Bruce joined guitarist Eric Clapton to form Cream (band), Cream, which achieved worldwide success but lasted only until 1968, in part due to Baker's and Bruce's volatile relationship. John Lee Hooker
John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1912 or 1917 – June 21, 2001) was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. The son of a sharecropper, he rose to prominence performing an electric guitar-style adaptation of Delta blues. Hooker often incorporated other elements, including talking blues and early North Mississippi hill country blues. He developed his own driving-rhythm boogie style, distinct from the 1930s–1940s piano-derived boogie-woogie. Hooker was ranked 35 in ''Rolling Stone''s 2015 list of 100 greatest guitarists. The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) is an arts organization in Columbus, Ohio. The council funds artists and organizations in Central Ohio, and hosts the annual Columbus Arts Festival. Building The Greater Columbus Arts Council office is the former Winders Motor Sales Company, a historic building in Downtown Columbus. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. The building is one of few early car dealerships remaining in downtown Columbus. The building was constructed in 1916 during a period of commercial development downtown.
