Dobyns-Bennett
Dobyns-Bennett High School is a high school (grades 9–12) in Kingsport, Tennessee, United States. It typically educates around 1,800 students, although enrollment for the 2014–15 academic year exceeded 2,100 students. As a part of Kingsport City Schools, students must be city residents paying city taxes to attend. Students that are not residents of the city may pay a tuition fee to attend. This tuition is collected to account for tax differences between county and city residents in order to help subsidize the cost of school programs and facilities. Dobyns-Bennett features a variety of programs for students of all academic levels. The many classes offered cater to many types of students who may want to attend technical schools or universities across the nation. James Frazier Barker
James Frazier Barker (born May 1, 1947) is the former president of Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. Early life and education Barker was born in Kingsport, Tennessee and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. He attended Clemson University and graduated with a degree in architecture in 1970. He then attended Washington University in St. Louis, earning a master's degree in architecture in 1973. Career Following graduation, Barker was hired as an assistant professor of architecture at the University of Tennessee. In 1974, he moved to Mississippi State University. Kingsport is a city in Sullivan and Hawkins counties in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, its population was 55,442. Simpson "Skip" Brown, Jr. (born January 21, 1955) is an American former college basketball player and an assistant athletic director at Wake Forest University. Brown was also an All-American player at Wake Forest. Brown, a 6'0" point guard from Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, Tennessee, played college basketball at Wake Forest. While there, he became one of the school's best all-time players. As a sophomore, Brown averaged 22.7 points and 6.8 assists per game and was named first team All- Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Robert Lee Dodd (November 11, 1908 – June 21, 1988) was an American college football player and coach, college baseball coach, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Georgia Tech from 1945 to 1966, compiling a record of 165–64–8. Denver Junior Crawford (June 16, 1921 – August 14, 2005) was a professional American football guard. He played at the University of Tennessee including the 1943 Sugar Bowl.
