Ditch The Label
Ditch the Label is a global youth charity, dedicated to helping young people through a range of issues, such as mental wellbeing, bullying, identity, relationships and digital literacy. They are a digital charity, which means that most of the support provided is through their website and partnerships with games and social networks. They additionally operate Ditch the Label Education, which provides free educational resources for schools and colleges. History Infancy In 2005, after 10 years of ignoring it and telling the teachers, founder and current CEO of Ditch the Label Liam Hackett took to the Internet to post about his experiences of being bullied. He talked about the extreme verbal and physical bullying he had experienced, including his hospitalisation after being attacked by a group of people from school. Liam Hackett
Liam Hackett (born 19 January 1991, in St Helens) is an activist, entrepreneur and author best known as the founder and CEO of the global equality and anti-bullying charity Ditch the Label. Hackett is also known as one of the stars of Huffington Post's reality series, 'The New Activists' also appearing in MTV's Geordie OG's series one. Hackett's debut book 'FEARLESS' was published by Scholastic in 2020. Hackett is a regular contributor towards the global conversation surrounding technology and bullying and has advised the British, European and American Governments and speaks often at the United Nations in addition to writing for the United Nations about technological progression and challenges. This Is England
''This Is England'' is a 2006 British drama film written and directed by Shane Meadows. The story centres on young skinheads in England in 1983. The film illustrates how their subculture, which has its roots in 1960s West Indies culture, especially ska, soul, and reggae music, became influenced by the far-right, especially white nationalists and white supremacists, which led to divisions within the skinhead scene. The film's title is a direct reference to a scene where the character Combo explains his nationalist views using the phrase "this is England" during his speech. ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' is an American reality competition television series, the first in the ''Drag Race'' franchise, produced by World of Wonder for Logo TV (season 1–8), WOW Presents Plus, VH1 (season 9–14) and, beginning with the fifteenth season, MTV. The show documents RuPaul in the search for "America's next drag superstar". RuPaul plays the role of host, mentor, and head judge for this series, as contestants are given different challenges each week. ''Big Fat Gypsy Weddings'' is a British documentary series broadcast on Channel 4, that explored the lives and traditions of several British Traveller families as they prepared to unite one of their members in marriage. The series also featured Romanichal (British Gypsies) in several episodes, and has been criticised by some Romani for not accurately representing England’s Romani and Travelling community. Thelma Madine-Akin is a wedding dressmaker born in Liverpool. She rose to fame after appearing as the traveller wedding dressmaker in ''My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding'', a Channel 4 documentary on Irish Travellers as they prepare for marriage. Stefanie McLeod Reid (born 26 October 1984) is a track and field paralympian who competes for Great Britain, competing mainly in category T44 long jump and sprint events.
