District Line (album)
''District Line'' is the seventh solo album from former Hüsker Dü and Sugar frontman Bob Mould. Returning from his previous solo album, ''Body of Song'', are drummer Brendan Canty, of Fugazi fame, and cellist Amy Domingues. Mould handled all of the other instruments himself. The closer, "Walls in Time," is actually a track that failed to make his 1989 solo debut, ''Workbook''. Release "The Silence Between Us" was released as a single on January 8, 2008. ''District Line'' was released on February 5, 2008; Mould promoted it with a US tour in the following month. Following this, he appeared at the Pukkelpop festival. Bob Mould
Robert Arthur Mould (born October 16, 1960) is an American musician, principally known for his work as guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for alternative rock bands Hüsker Dü in the 1980s and Sugar in the 1990s. Early years Born in Malone, New York, Mould lived in several places, including the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, where he attended Macalester College. There, he formed Hüsker Dü in the late 1970s with drummer/singer Grant Hart and bass guitarist Greg Norton. Mould and Hart were the principal songwriters for Hüsker Dü, with Hart's higher-pitched vocals and Mould's baritone taking the lead in alternate songs. Workbook (album)
''Workbook'' is the 1989 debut solo album by American guitarist and singer Bob Mould, following the breakup of the influential rock band Hüsker Dü. The album has a strong folk influence and lighter overall sound than he had been known for, although heavy guitar features occasionally. Drummer Anton Fier and bassist Tony Maimone, both of Pere Ubu fame, served as Mould's rhythm section on the album and on the subsequent live shows. The single " See a Little Light" was a hit on the US Modern Rock chart. The album has been influential in the alternative rock community: its acoustic elements would be echoed in R.E.M.'s 1992 album ''Automatic for the People'', while Nirvana's 1993 album ''In Utero'' used cellos in a similar way. The Independent Albums chart (previously titled Top Independent Albums) ranks the highest-selling independent music albums and extended plays (EPs) in the United States, as compiled by Nielsen SoundScan and published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. It is used to list artists who are not signed to major labels. Rankings are compiled by point-of-purchase sales obtained by Nielsen, and from legal music downloads from a variety of online music stores. The chart began in the week of February 5, 2000. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. Albums and songs appearing on Top Heatseekers may also concurrently appear on the ''Billboard'' 200 or ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The ''Billboard'' 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine and is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. Amy Domingues
Amy Domingues (born 1973) is an American viola da gamba player and cellist (baroque and modern). Biography She earned her master's degree in Early Music at Peabody Conservatory. In August 2014 Domingues traveled to Venice, Italy at the invitation of the Venice Opera Project to play continuo in their inaugural season. In addition to her early music activities, Domingues maintains a large teaching studio and performs on amplified viola da gamba with multi-instrumentalist Dennis Kane as the duo Domingues & Kane. She is also an active cellist, composer, and teacher in the Washington, DC area. Her soundtrack compositions can be heard in the score to 2003’s Academy Award-nominated documentary film ''The Weather Underground''. Pukkelpop is an annual music festival that takes place near the city of Hasselt, Belgium, in mid- to late August. It is held within a large enclosure of fields and woodland—adjacent to a dual carriageway called ''Kempische Steenweg''—in the village of Kiewit, approximately 7 km north of Hasselt.
