In cricket, a dismissal occurs when a batter's innings is brought to an end by the opposing team. Other terms used are the batsman being out, the batting side losing a wicket, and the fielding side taking a wicket. The ball becomes dead (so no further runs can be scored off that delivery), and the dismissed batter must leave the field of play for the rest of their team's innings, to be replaced by a team-mate. A team's innings ends if ten of the eleven team members are dismissed. Players bat in pairs so, when only one batter is not out, it is not possible for the team to bat any longer. The 1975 Australian constitutional crisis, also known simply as the Dismissal, culminated on 11 November 1975 with the dismissal from office of the prime minister, Gough Whitlam of the Australian Labor Party (ALP), by Governor-General Sir John Kerr, who then commissioned the leader of the Opposition, Malcolm Fraser of the Liberal Party, as prime minister. The 1932 dismissal of Premier Jack Lang by New South Wales Governor Philip Game was the first real constitutional crisis in Australia. Lang remains the only Australian premier to be removed from office by his governor, using the reserve powers of the Crown. The Apolytikion () or Dismissal Hymn is a troparion (a short hymn of one stanza) said or sung at Orthodox Christian worship services. The apolytikion summarizes the feast being celebrated that day. It is chanted at Vespers, Matins and the Divine Liturgy; and it is read at each of the Little Hours. William Litton Viner
William Litton Viner (14 May 1790 – 24 July 1867) was an organist and composer of church music. Life Viner was born in Bath; he studied under Charles Wesley junior, and in 1820 became organist of St Michael's Church, Bath. In 1835, on the recommendation of Samuel Sebastian Wesley, he was appointed organist of St Mary's Church, Penzance. Viner continued to be organist at St Mary's until 1859; in that year he went to America. He died in Westfield, Massachusetts in 1867. Viner was a prolific composer of church music, organ music, and songs. He was the author of the hymn tunes "Dismissal" and "Helston" (also known as "Kingston").
