''Discophora timora'', the great duffer,"''Discophora'' Boisduval, [1836]"at Markku Savela's ''Lepidoptera and Some Other Life Forms'' is a butterfly found in South Asia that belongs to the Morphinae subfamily of the Nymphalidae, brush-footed butterflies family. Distribution The great duffer ranges from Sikkim and Assam in India to Myanmar, Thailand, peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Indochina. A subspecies of the butterfly is found as a rare endemic in the Andaman Islands. It was recorded as ''Discophora continentalis andamanensis'', Staudinger by William Harry Evans. Indochina
Mainland Southeast Asia, also known as the Indochinese Peninsula or Indochina, is the continental portion of Southeast Asia. India has extremely diverse terrain, climate and vegetation, which comprises extremes of heat cold, desert and jungle, of low-lying plains and the highest mountains, of dryness and dampness, islands and continental areas, widely varying flora, and sharply marked seasons. The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), founded on 15 September 1883, is one of the largest non-governmental organisations in India engaged in conservation and biodiversity research. Brigadier William Harry Evans Order of the Star of India, CSI Order of the Indian Empire, CIE Distinguished Service Order, DSO (born 22 July 1876 in Shillong – died 13 November 1956, Church Whitfield ) was a lepidopterist and British Army officer who served in India. Otto Staudinger (2 May 1830 – 13 October 1900) was a German entomologist and a natural history dealer considered one of the largest in the world specialising in the collection and sale of insects to museums, scientific institutions, and individuals. Life Staudinger was born in Groß Wüstenfelde, Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, from a Bavarian family on his father's side. His grandfather was born near Ansbach and came to Holstein at the end of the 18th century where Staudinger's father was born in Groß Flottbeck in 1799. His mother, a born Schroeder, was from Mecklenburg, born in Putzar at the Count of Schwerin's estate in 1794.
