Disco Mix Club
Disco Mix Club is primarily a remix label under (British Phonographic Industry) licence, which is not intended for the mass market but rather exclusively for professional DJs and enthusiasts. The Disco Mix Club sells megamixes and remixes every month produced by other disc jockeys, and publishes the weekly magazine, ''Update''. The monthly ''Mixmag'' (the UK dance music bible for many years) was initially published by the Disco Mix Club, but it was bought in January 1997 by the British media group EMAP, and is currently owned by Wasted Talent Ltd after being published by Development Hell for a number of years in the late 2000s. Remix Service
A remix service is a company that provides remixed music to disc jockeys. History In the United States, the disco craze of the late 1970s led to the release of extended "disco" versions of songs, typically released as 12" vinyl singles. Many of these were not easily beatmixed, so DJs started to edit songs by splicing reel-to-reel tape copies, making their own versions better structured for a live DJ set. Disconet, the first remix service, launched in 1977. Similar companies gathered DJs and producers together to create monthly, promotional-only compilation albums containing re-edits, remixes, or medleys that were intended specifically for club DJs. By 1994 there was a saturation of remix services, most of which typically remixed the same tracks as their competitors. DMC World DJ Championships
DMC World DJ Championships is an annual DJ competition hosted by Disco Mix Club (DMC) which began in 1985. Championships were sponsored internationally by Technics (brand), Technics, but in 2010 Technics has been replaced by Serato and Rane Corporation, Rane. From 2011, the vinyl emulation software Serato Scratch Live can be used during the competition in addition to traditional vinyl. Ben Liebrand () (born 27 September 1960 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands) is a Dutch dance music DJ and remixer. Paul David Dakeyne (born 30 January 1961), known by his stage name Tinman, is an English house music producer/ remixer from Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire. In 1994, his single "Eighteen Strings" (also written as "18 Strings") became an international club hit. It was rumoured that the original bootleg recording of "Eighteen Strings" contained a sample of the riff from "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, and that the usage of the sample was disallowed, therefore it was reproduced for commercial release. Peter Slaghuis
Peter Slaghuis (; 21 August 1961 – 5 September 1991) was a Dutch DJ, record producer and remixer, whose work was mostly released under the name Hithouse (a literal translation of his last name — ''slag'', a hit, a beat; and ''huis'', house). Biography Slaghuis was born in Rijswijk, Netherlands. Not much is known about his personal life, but he was a figure in the European dance music scene in the 1980s, producing popular remixes of various hits (most notably the "Long Vocal Dutch Mix" of " I Can't Wait" by Nu Shooz). Slaghuis stated "I hated that song so much... I just had to put a hook over it."
