Dirk Lodewijk Willem Van Mierop
Dirk Lodewijk Willem van Mierop (1876–1930), was a Dutch author, anti-militarist, magazine editor, activist, organizer, pacifist and Christian anarchist. Together with Felix Ortt, van Mierop was one of the most influential Christian anarchists in the Netherlands. Biography Van Mierop grew up in a wealthy family. His father, Lodewijk Regnerus Constantijn Gertrudes van Mierop, was a timber merchant. His mother, Justine Marie Pauline van Lelyveld, convinced him to study theology. As a teenager, he was convinced by his mother's interest in socially-oriented Christianity, becoming a supporter of Christian anarchism. In addition to theology in Amsterdam, he also studied mathematics and natural history in Leiden. Through other theology students he got to know the works of Leo Tolstoy. Anarcho-pacifists
Anarcho-pacifism, also referred to as anarchist pacifism and pacifist anarchism, is an anarchist school of thought that advocates for the use of peaceful, non-violent forms of resistance in the struggle for social change. Anarcho-pacifism rejects the principle of violence which is seen as a form of power and therefore as contradictory to key anarchist ideals such as the rejection of hierarchy and dominance. Many anarcho-pacifists are also Christian anarchists, who reject war and the use of violence. Anarcho-pacifists do not reject the use of non-violent revolutionary action against capitalism and the state with the purpose of establishing a peaceful voluntarist society. Max Nettlau
Max Heinrich Hermann Reinhardt Nettlau (; 30 April 1865 – 23 July 1944) was a German anarchist and historian. Although born in Neuwaldegg (today part of Vienna) and raised in Vienna, he lived there until the anschluss to Nazi Germany in 1938. Max Nettlau retained his Prussian (later German) nationality throughout his life. A student of the Welsh language he spent time in London where he joined the Socialist League and met William Morris. While in London he met anarchists such as Errico Malatesta and Peter Kropotkin whom he remained in contact with for the rest of his life. He also helped to found Freedom Press for whom he wrote for many years. In the 1890s realising that a generation of socialist and anarchist militants from the mid-19th century was dying and their archives of writings and correspondence being destroyed, he concentrated his effort and a recent modest inheritance from his father on acquiring and rescuing such collections from destruction.
