Dirk De Smet
Dirk De Smet (born 30 April 1969 in Kapellen, Belgium) is a Flemish singer and saxophonist, best known for winning the second series of the Belgian edition of '' X Factor'' musical competition. He won the title on the final held on 17 December 2008 with 53% of the popular vote against the other finalist, Tom Eeckhout (later known as Tom Dice). Dirk De Smet released the winning single on 18 December 2008 entitled " Walk and Don't Look Back", a remake of The Temptations The Temptations are an American vocal group from Detroit, Michigan, who released a series of successful singles and albums with Motown Records during the 1960s and 1970s. Kapellen, Belgium
Kapellen (, old spelling: ''Cappellen'') is a municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality lies in the Campine in the northern part of the province. Kapellen consists only of the town of Kapellen proper. In 2021, Kapellen had a total population of 27,157. The total area is 37.11 km². Kapellen consists out of multiple neighbourhoods, Kapellen Center, the eastern part of Putte, Kapellenbos, Hoogboom and Zilverenhoek. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. "Don't Look Back" is a 1965 song recorded by The Temptations for the Gordy ( Motown) label. The flip side to their Top 20 hit " My Baby", "Don't Look Back" broke out and became a hit among the R&B audience on its own, reaching #14 on the R&B charts. Considered one of original lead singer Paul Williams' showcases, "Don't Look Back" was regularly employed as the closing number for Temptations live performances. Tom Dice (born Tom Eeckhout, 25 November 1989) is a Belgian singer-songwriter. He finished runner-up in the Flemish version of ''The X Factor'' in 2008 using his birth name Tom Eeckhout, but soon after changed his name taking the stage name Tom Dice. He represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 final on 29 May in Oslo with " Me and My Guitar" ending up sixth overall.
