Diocese Of Vayots Dzor
Diocese of Vayots Dzor ( hy, Վայոց Ձորի թեմ ''Vayots Dzori t'em''), is one of the newest dioceses of the Armenian Apostolic Church covering the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. The diocesan headquarters are located in the town of Yeghegnadzor. The seat of the bishop is the 12th-century Holy Mother of God Cathedral of Yeghegnadzor. The diocese was established in 2010, when it was separated from the Diocese of Syunik. The prelacy building is located on the Grigor Narekatsi Street in the town of Yeghagndzor. Structure The primate of the diocese is archbishop Abraham Mkrtchyan who is in service since the formation of the diocese in December 2010. The vicar is archimandrite Zareh Kabaghyan, while the remaining 5 priests are serving the 17 acting places of worship within the Vayots Dzor Province. Noravank
Noravank ( hy, Նորավանք, ) is a 13th-century Armenian monastery, located 122 km from Yerevan in a narrow gorge made by the Amaghu River, near the town of Yeghegnadzor in Armenia. The gorge is known for its tall, sheer, brick-red cliffs, directly across from the monastery. The monastery is best known for its two-storey Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) Church, which grants access to the second floor by way of a narrow stone-made staircase jutting out from the face of building. The monastery is sometimes called Noravank at Amaghu, with Amaghu being the name of a small and nowadays abandoned village above the canyon, in order to distinguish it from Bgheno-Noravank, near Goris. Herher ( hy, Հերհեր) is a village in the Jermuk Municipality of the Vayots Dzor Province in Armenia. History Herher was once a fief of the Orbelian vassals, the Shahurnetsi family in the 13th century. Tsaghats Kar Monastery ( hy, Ցաղաց քար Վանք) is a monastic complex located along the mountain foothills overlooking the Yeghegis River, between the villages of Yeghegis (6 km northeast) and Horbategh in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. Gndevank
Gndevank ( hy, Գնդեվանք, meaning ''Round cathedral'') is a 10th-century Armenian monastery in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia, along the Vayk-Jermuk road. Location The monastery is located on the west side of the Vayk-Jermuk road on the bank of the Arpa river. The old road is blocked by landslides and the monastery is approached by walking about from the junction with the old road, after a bridge crossing. About away from the church is the rock known as " Vartan Mamikonian." There is a spring water in the vicinity of the church and a few picnic tables. History The monastery was built in 936 AD by Princess Sophia of Syunik.
