Dingle was a constituency represented in the Irish House of Commons until its abolition on 1 January 1801. History It was incorporated by charter in 1607 with a Provost, 12 Burgesses and 150 freemen two resident. It had a corporation, and the electorate consisted of 13 burgesses and 150 freemen. Dingle
Dingle (Irish language, Irish: ''An Daingean'' or ''Daingean Uí Chúis'', meaning "fort of Ó Cúis") is a town in County Kerry, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The only town on the Dingle Peninsula, it sits on the Atlantic Ocean, Atlantic coast, about southwest of Tralee and northwest of Killarney. Principal industries in the town are tourism, fishing and agriculture: Dingle Mart (livestock market) serves the surrounding countryside. In 2016 Dingle had a population of 2,050 with 13.7% of the population speaking Irish on a daily basis outside the education system. Dingle is situated in a ''Gaeltacht'' region. Thomas Crosbie (Dingle MP)
Sir Thomas Crosbie (died 7 February 1694), also recorded as Crosby, was an Anglo-Irish soldier and politician. Crosbie was the eldest son of David Crosbie of Ardfert, a Protestantism in Ireland, Protestant planter whose family had moved to County Kerry in the early seventeenth century. His paternal grandfather was Bishop John Crosbie (bishop), John Crosbie. His mother was a daughter of Bishop John Steere (bishop), John Steere. Crosbie served as an Ensign (rank), ensign in the army of the Commonwealth of England, rising eventually to the rank of lieutenant in a troop of horse. He participated in the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland as a "known enemy of the Confederate Ireland, Confederate Catholics". After the Stuart Restoration, Crosbie, who inherited the family estate in 1658, was included in the general pardon granted to supporters of Oliver Cromwell, Cromwell. Hayes St Leger, 2nd Viscount Doneraile (9 March 1755 — 8 November 1819) was an Anglo-Irish politician and peer. Doneraile was the son of St Leger St Leger, 1st Viscount Doneraile, and the great-grandson of Arthur St Leger, 1st Viscount Doneraile. Richard Boyle Townsend (1756 – 26 November 1826) was an Irish politician. He was the only son of Richard Townsend and his wife Elizabeth FitzGerald, daughter of John FitzGerald, 15th Knight of Kerry. Richard Townsend (politician)
Richard Townsend (c. 1731 – 12 December 1783) was an Irish politician. He was the oldest son of Richard Townsend, son of Bryan Townsend, and his second wife Elizabeth Beecher, daughter of Henry Beecher and granddaughter of Thomas Beecher. His younger brother was John Townsend. Townsend served as colonel of the Cork Militia and was appointed High Sheriff of County Cork in 1753. He entered the Irish House of Commons for County Cork in 1759 and represented the constituency until his death in 1783. In 1776, he was also elected for Dingle, however chose not to sit. Maurice FitzGerald, 16th Knight Of Kerry
Maurice FitzGerald, 16th Knight of Kerry (c. 1734 – 24 June 1779), known as "The Dingle Knight", was an Irish politician, barrister and hereditary knight. He was the only surviving son of John FitzGerald, 15th Knight of Kerry and his wife Margaret Deane, daughter of Joseph Deane. In 1741, he succeeded his father as Knight of Kerry. FitzGerald was Judge of the Admiralty Court and in 1761, he entered the Irish House of Commons. He sat for Dingle, the same constituency his father had represented before, until 1776. On 10 June 1764, he married his cousin Lady Anne FitzMaurice, only daughter of William FitzMaurice, 2nd Earl of Kerry. FitzGerald died childless and was succeeded in his title by his uncle Robert. His nephew Richard Boyle Townsend became heir of his estates. Sir William Fownes, 2nd Baronet
Sir William Fownes, 2nd Baronet (1709 – 5 June 1778) was an Anglo-Irish politician. Fownes was the son of Sir William Fownes, 1st Baronet, and in 1735 he inherited his father's baronetcy. Fownes was the Member of Parliament for Dingle in the Irish House of Commons between 1749 and 1760, before representing Knocktopher from 1761 to 1776. Fownes was admitted to the Irish Privy Council in 1761. Robert FitzGerald, 17th Knight of Kerry (1717 – 5 December 1781) was an Irish politician, barrister and hereditary knight. He was the second son of Maurice FitzGerald, 14th Knight of Kerry and his wife Elizabeth Crosbie, second daughter of David Crosbie. John Perceval, 2nd Earl of Egmont, PC, FRS (25 February 17114 December 1770) was a British politician, political pamphleteer, and genealogist who served as First Lord of the Admiralty. John FitzGerald, 15th Knight of Kerry (1706 – 10 June 1741) was an Irish politician and hereditary knight. He was the older son of Maurice FitzGerald, 14th Knight of Kerry, and his wife Elizabeth Crosbie, second daughter of David Crosbie. His younger brother was Robert FitzGerald. In 1728, FitzGerald entered the Irish House of Commons and sat for Dingle until his death. One year later, he succeeded his father as Knight of Kerry.
