Maurice FitzGerald, 16th Knight Of Kerry
Maurice FitzGerald, 16th Knight of Kerry (c. 1734 – 24 June 1779), known as "The Dingle Knight", was an Irish politician, barrister and hereditary knight. He was the only surviving son of John FitzGerald, 15th Knight of Kerry and his wife Margaret Deane, daughter of Joseph Deane. In 1741, he succeeded his father as Knight of Kerry. FitzGerald was Judge of the Admiralty Court and in 1761, he entered the Irish House of Commons. He sat for Dingle, the same constituency his father had represented before, until 1776. On 10 June 1764, he married his cousin Lady Anne FitzMaurice, only daughter of William FitzMaurice, 2nd Earl of Kerry. FitzGerald died childless and was succeeded in his title by his uncle Robert. His nephew Richard Boyle Townsend became heir of his estates. John FitzGerald, 15th Knight Of Kerry
John FitzGerald, 15th Knight of Kerry (1706 – 10 June 1741) was an Irish politician and hereditary knight. He was the older son of Maurice FitzGerald, 14th Knight of Kerry, and his wife Elizabeth Crosbie, second daughter of David Crosbie. His younger brother was Robert FitzGerald. In 1728, FitzGerald entered the Irish House of Commons and sat for Dingle until his death. One year later, he succeeded his father as Knight of Kerry. On 12 April 1732, FitzGerald married Margaret Deane, youngest daughter of Joseph Deane, Chief Baron of the Irish Exchequer, and by her, he had a daughter and a son. FitzGerald died at The Grove, Dingle in 1741 and was succeeded in his title by his only son Maurice. FitzGerald Dynasty
The FitzGerald/FitzMaurice Dynasty is a noble and aristocratic dynasty of Cambro-Norman, Anglo-Norman and later Hiberno-Norman origin. They have been peers of Ireland since at least the 13th century, and are described in the Annals of the Four Masters as having become "more Irish than the Irish themselves" or Gaels, due to assimilation with the native Gaelic aristocratic and popular culture. The dynasty has also been referred to as the Geraldines and Ireland's largest landowners. Richard Townsend (politician)
Richard Townsend (c. 1731 – 12 December 1783) was an Irish politician. He was the oldest son of Richard Townsend, son of Bryan Townsend, and his second wife Elizabeth Beecher, daughter of Henry Beecher and granddaughter of Thomas Beecher. His younger brother was John Townsend. Townsend served as colonel of the Cork Militia and was appointed High Sheriff of County Cork in 1753. He entered the Irish House of Commons for County Cork in 1759 and represented the constituency until his death in 1783. In 1776, he was also elected for Dingle, however chose not to sit. Sir William Fownes, 2nd Baronet
Sir William Fownes, 2nd Baronet (1709 – 5 June 1778) was an Anglo-Irish politician. Fownes was the son of Sir William Fownes, 1st Baronet, and in 1735 he inherited his father's baronetcy. Fownes was the Member of Parliament for Dingle in the Irish House of Commons between 1749 and 1760, before representing Knocktopher from 1761 to 1776. Fownes was admitted to the Irish Privy Council in 1761. Joseph Deane
Joseph Deane PC (1674–1715) was an Irish politician and judge who became Chief Baron of the Irish Exchequer. His sudden and premature death was popularly believed to be due to a chill caught when watching an eclipse of the sun. Background He was born in Crumlin, Dublin, son of Joseph Deane (of Deanehill, County Meath) and his wife Elizabeth Parker, daughter of John Parker, Archbishop of Dublin, and his wife Mary Clarke. His grandfather Major Joseph Deane was a close associate of Oliver Cromwell and a cousin of Richard Deane, the regicide.
