Dinajpur ( bn, দিনাজপুর ) is a city and the District headquarters of Dinajpur District, Bangladesh, Dinajpur district situated in Rangpur Division, Bangladesh. It was founded in 1786. It is located 413 km north-west of Dhaka in Bangladesh. It is bounded on the north by Suihari, Katapara, Bangi Bechapara, Pulhat, Koshba on the south, on the east of Sheikhupura and by the river Punarbhaba River, Punarbhaba on the west. Mohammad Farhad (July 5, 1938 – October 9, 1987), popularly known as "Comrade Farhad", was a guerrilla force commander during the Bangladesh independence war, and the President of Communist Party of Bangladesh and a member of Bangladesh Parliament. Shawkat Ali (novelist)
Shawkat Ali (12 February 1936 – 25 January 2018) was a Bangladeshi writer. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1968 and Ekushey Padak in 1990 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life and education Ali was born in Raiganj in West Dinajpur district in British India. He passed his IA from Surendranath College in 1951 and BA in 1955. He completed his MA in Bengali literature from the University of Dhaka in 1958. Career Ali started writing articles in newspapers in 1955. He started his career at the news desk of ''Dainik Millat'' in the same year. He worked in Thakurgaon as a schoolteacher for six months. Swami Atmasthananda (21 May 1919 – 18 June 2017) was an Indian Hindu monk, who was the fifteenth president of the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. Narayan Gangopadhyay (4 February 1918 – 8 November 1970), also known as Narayan Ganguly, was an Indian novelist, poet, essayist, and short story writer, and one of the leading writers of modern Bengali literature. He introduced the endearing character of Tenida in his famous stories of Children's literature. He took up "Narayan" as his pen name. Dinajpur Zilla School is a public high school in Dinajpur District, Bangladesh. About 2000 students study here from classes 3 to 10. The school's current headmistress is Mrs. Akthara Parvin. It is one of the ancient schools in Bangladesh. History Dinajpur Zilla School was established in 1854 in the Pratap House by the Raja Tarakanath.
