Din Mehmeti
Din Mehmeti (1932 – 12 November 2010) was an Albanian poet from Kosovo. He was among the best-known classical representatives of contemporary verse in Kosovo. Career He was born in 1932 in the village of Gjocaj, Junik, near Gjakova, Kosovo. He studied Albanian language and literature at the University of Belgrade. He later lectured at the teacher training college in Gjakova. Although he has published some prose, literary criticism and a play, he is known primarily for his figurative poetry which has appeared in fifteen volumes between 1961 and 1999. Mehmeti's verse is one of indigenous sensitivity. He relies on many of the figures, metaphors and symbols of northern Albanian popular verse to imbue and stabilize his restless lyrics with the stoic vision of the mountain tribes. Esad Mekuli
Esad Mekuli ( sr-cyrl, Есад Мекули; 17 December 1916, – 6 August 1993) was an Albanian poet, critic and translator. He was the first president of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo. Robert Elsie considered him the father of modern Albanian poetry in Yugoslavia, and his influence in Kosovo remains immense. Biography Esad Mekuli was born in Plav to Haxhi Hoxhë Smajl Ademi of the Mekuli brotherhood in Nokshiq (sk. ''Novšiće''). After finishing the local primary school, Mekuli studied in Pejë, graduating in 1936. He then registered in the faculty of veterinary medicine at the University of Belgrade. There he came in contact with Marxist circles, and was a veteran of the Spanish Civil War; for his political activity he was arrested in 1940. Kosovo Albanians
The Albanians of Kosovo ( sq, Shqiptarët e Kosovës, ), also commonly called Kosovo Albanians, Kosovar/Kosovan Albanians or Kosovars/Kosovans, constitute the largest ethnic group in Kosovo. Kosovo Albanians belong to the ethnic Albanian sub-group of Ghegs, who inhabit the north of Albania, north of the Shkumbin river, Kosovo, southern Serbia, and western parts of North Macedonia. Tirana
Tirana ( , ; aln, Tirona) is the capital and largest city of Albania. Millosh Gjergj Nikolla (; 13 October 191126 August 1938), commonly known by the acronym pen name Migjeni, was an Albanian poet and writer, considered one of the most important of the 20th century. After his death, he was recognized as one of the main influential writers of interwar Albanian literature. Migjeni is considered to have shifted from revolutionary romanticism to Critical realism (philosophy of perception), critical realism during his lifetime. Rexhep Qosja
Rexhep Qosja (born 1936) is an Albanian writer and literary critic from a part of Malësia in modern Montenegro (where locally the region is known as ''Malesija''). Life and career He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Pristina (1969–1999), University of Pristina and graduated with a master's degree from the University of Belgrade University of Belgrade Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Philology in 1968. Qosja's brother Isa Qosja, Isa is a film director. Qosja is the author of various anthologies and scholarly monographs, including a three-volume history of Albanian literature in the Romantic period.
