Dimitrios Doulis
Dimitrios Doulis ( el, Δημήτριος Δούλης, 1865–1928), was a Greek military office, minister of Defence of the Autonomous Republic of Northern Epirus. He was from Nivica in modern southern Albania . Military career Doulis was born in 1865, son of Nikolaos Doulis and descendant of Kitsos Doulis, a hero of the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire (1821–30). In 1883 he enlisted in the Hellenic Army as a volunteer. After studies in the NCO Military School, he was commissioned as an infantry second lieutenant on 20 August 1888. He fought in the Greco-Turkish War of 1897, and was promoted to lieutenant on 19 April 1898, captain II class on 31 December 1904, and captain I class on 18 January 1907. He participated in the Balkan Wars of 1912–1913 as a major (promoted just before the war's outbreak, on 16 September 1912). Gjirokastër
Gjirokastër (, sq-definite, Gjirokastra) is a city in the Republic of Albania and the seat of Gjirokastër County and Gjirokastër Municipality. It is located in a valley between the Gjerë mountains and the Drino, at 300 metres above sea level. Its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, described as "a rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman town, built by farmers of large estate". Delvinë
Delvinë ( or , ); is a town and a municipality in Vlorë County, southern Albania, northeast of Saranda. It was formed in the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Delvinë and Vergo, which became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Delvinë. The total population is 7,598 (2011 census), in a total area of . The population of the former municipality in the 2011 census was 5,754. The town is built on a mountain slope. It has a mosque, a Catholic church, a Protestant church, and an Orthodox church. Nearby are the remainders of a medieval castle. The 26th Infantry Regiment is an infantry regiment of the United States Army. Its nickname is "Blue Spaders", taken from the spade-like device on the regiment's distinctive unit insignia. Battle Of Bizani
The Battle of Bizani (, ''Máchi tou Bizaníou''; tr, Bizani Muharebesi, italic=no) took place in Epirus on . The battle was fought between Greek and Ottoman forces during the last stages of the First Balkan War, and revolved around the forts of Bizani, which covered the approaches to Ioannina, the largest city in the region. At the outbreak of the war, the Hellenic Army on the Epirus front did not have the numbers to initiate an offensive against the German-designed defensive positions in Bizani. However, after the campaign in Macedonia was over, many Greek troops were redeployed to Epirus, where Crown Prince Constantine himself assumed command. Preveza
Preveza ( el, Πρέβεζα, ) is a city in the region of Epirus, northwestern Greece, located on the northern peninsula at the mouth of the Ambracian Gulf. It is the capital of the regional unit of Preveza, which is part of the region of Epirus. The 15th Infantry Regiment "XV Inf. Div."
