Dill (river)
The Dill is a long river, flowing through central Hesse in Germany. It is a tributary to the Lahn, joining it on the right bank at the town of Wetzlar. Course The Dill flows exclusively through the Lahn-Dill-Kreis district in Hesse. The river originates at about 567 m above sea-level north of Haiger-Offdilln on the eastern slope of the ''Haincher Höhe'' (heights that reach 606 m), where the mountain ranges Rothaargebirge and Westerwald meet. During its course, roughly from north to south, the Dill passes the towns of Haiger, Dillenburg, Herborn, Aßlar, and finally empties into the Lahn at Wetzlar. Many places on the banks of the river draw their names from it. On the river's upper reaches these are Offdilln, Dillbrecht, Fellerdilln, Dillenburg, and further downstream Dillheim. Eschenburg is a municipality in the Lahn-Dill-Kreis in Hesse, Germany. The community inherited its name from nearby Eschenburg mountain. Geography About 20 km², or 43.8%, of the municipal area is wooded, 9.85 km² of this being municipal forest, and the rest state forest. Herborn () is a historic town on the Dill in the Lahn-Dill district of Hesse in Germany. Before World War I, it was granted its own title as ''Nassauisches Rothenburg''. Breitscheid (Hesse)
Breitscheid is a municipality in the Lahn-Dill-Kreis in Hesse, Germany. Geography Location Breitscheid lies from 266 to 600 m above sea level on the eastern slope of the Westerwald range at the point shared by three German states: Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. Erdbach, a constituent community, lies in an interesting place with regards to Earth's history, in the eastern part of the Westerwald, near that range's highest peak, Fuchskauten (657 m).
