Van Dievoet Family
The Van Dievoet family () is a Belgian family originating from the Duchy of Brabant. It descends from the Seven Noble Houses of Brussels and its members have been ''bourgeois'' (burgess) of that city since the 1600s. Henri Van Dievoet
Henri van Dievoet (, 19 January 1869 – 24 April 1931) was a Belgian architect. Biography Early life Van Dievoet was born into an old family of Brussels descended from the Sweerts lineage, one of the Seven Noble Houses of Brussels, which had already shone in the fine arts at the time of Louis XIV. His great-grand-uncles were the goldsmith Philippe Van Dievoet and the sculptor Peter Van Dievoet, one of the creators of the Grand-Place of Brussels. Joseph Poelaert was his great-uncle. Peter van Dievoet (; French: Pierre, Dutch: Peeter, Latin: Petrus; 16611729) was a sculptor, statuary, wood carver, and designer of ornamental architectural features from Brussels. Augustus Van Dievoet
Augustus Van Dievoet (, Latin: Augustus Divutius, French: Auguste, 3 May 180331 October 1865) was a Belgian legal historian and Supreme Court advocate. His son, Jules Van Dievoet, also a Supreme Court advocate, married Marguerite Anspach (1852-1934), the daughter of Jules Anspach, who served as burgomaster of Brussels in 1863–1879. Biography Augustus Van Dievoet studied at the Imperial Lyceum of Brussels (''Lycée Imperial de Bruxelles''). Van Dievoet demonstrated an exceptional capacity for academic work, excelling in his study of humanities and winning numerous prizes in Latin and Greek humanities at the College. He went on to study law at the State University of Louvain, where he received his doctorate in law on 24 March 1827. Vandive Family
The Vandive family (; or Van Dievoet called Vandive; in French: Van Dievoet dit Vandive) was a Parisian and elder branch of the Van Dievoet family from Brussels, descended from goldsmith Philippe Van Dievoet, the brother of famous Brussels sculptor Peter Van Dievoet. The family were first bourgeois of Paris before becoming part of the French nobility. This Parisian branch of the Van Dievoet family became extinct in 1802 with the death of François Gilles Vandive. Gabriel Van Dievoet
Gabriel Van Dievoet (, 12 April 1875 – 17 November 1934) was a Belgian decorator and Liberty style sgraffitist. He was the brother of the architect Henri Van Dievoet. He was the son of Leon Van Dievoet, ship-owner and maritime-agent, and of Hermine Straatman; and the grandson of Eugene van Dievoet and Hortense Poelaert (sister of the famous architect Joseph Poelaert). Josse-Émile van Dievoet (; 10 June 1886 – 24 June 1967) was a Flemish politician and lawyer. He served as Belgian Minister of Justice. He was a Doctor of Law and of political and social sciences. He was also an honorary doctor of Utrecht University and Radboud University Nijmegen. Career He was a lawyer at the Leuven Bar and a professor at KU Leuven. Germaine Van Dievoet
Germaine van Dievoet (, 26 September 1899 Р30 October 1990) was a Belgian competitive and olympic swimmer. Career Germaine Van Dievoet was the Belgian champion for the 100m women's freestyle in 1920, 1921, 1922 and 1923. She was one of only ten Belgian women to have participated in the 1920 Summer Olympics, which took place in Antwerp from 20 April until 12 September 1920. She competed in the 100 meter swim, but lost in a semi-final race, finishing fourth. She was the only Belgian to compete in the race. Bronze medal, 100 - meter freestyle at the 1922 Women's Olympiad. Léon Van Dievoet (; 5 July 1907 – 6 December 1993) was a Belgian architect, painter, engraver, and draughtsman. Major Eugène Van Dievoet (, 9 May 186220 March 1937), was a Belgian architect and Major of military engineering. He mainly designed Art Deco and Beaux-Arts in Brussels. Biography Eugène Van Dievoet is the son of Ernest Jean-Louis Van Dievoet (Brussels, 16 July 1835 - Saint-Gilles, 28 August 1903) and Léonie Joséphine Françoise Most (Antwerp, 14 July 1838 - Brussels 1943), daughter of Ferdinand Gustave Adolphe Most and Ghislaine Philippine Pauline Delsart; and the grandson of Eugène Van Dievoet and Hortense Poelaert, sister of the famous architect Joseph Poelaert. He is therefore the first cousin of the architect Henri Van Dievoet and the Art Nouveau decorator Gabriel Van Dievoet. Guillaume Vandive
Guillaume Vandive (, also Vandivout and Van Dievoet; ) (22 november 1680 – 1706) was a French printer and bookseller. He was a master tradesman under the patronage of the Dauphin of France. Vandive's premises was on the rue Saint-Jacques, Paris. His trade mark was the "Crowned Dolphin". Vandive published books in French and Latin on the topics of Jansenist theology, trade and travel. After his death at age 26, Vandive's business was continued by Nicolas Simart who married Vandive's widow.
