Dieter Pohl (historian)
Dieter Pohl (born 1964) is a German historian and author who specialises in the Eastern European history and the history of mass violence in the 20th century. Education and career Dieter Pohl studied history and political science at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich from 1984 to 1990, graduating with a Masters of Arts. Under the direction of , he completed his PhD dissertation ''Nationalsozialistische Judenverfolgung in Ostgalizien 1941–1944'' ("Nazi persecution of Jews in Eastern Galicia 1941-1944") in 1995. From 1995 to August 2010, Pohl was a researcher, and then a department head, at the Munich Institute for Contemporary History. Since September 2010, Pohl has served a professor of contemporary history at the Historical Institute at the University of Klagenfurt, with a focus on Eastern and Southeastern Europe. Peter Lieb (born 1974) is a German military historian who specializes in the history of Nazi Germany and World War II. He held positions at Institute of Contemporary History, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr. Widely published in the field, Lieb specializes in the Western theatre of World War II. Education and career Lieb holds a PhD from the University of Munich, where he researched the radicalization of warfare in the West in 1944. The Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI) is a research centre dedicated to the research and documentation of and education on all aspects of antisemitism, racism and the Holocaust, including its emergence and aftermath. Vasily Semyonovich Grossman (russian: Васи́лий Семёнович Гро́ссман; 12 December (29 November, Julian calendar) 1905 – 14 September 1964) was a Soviet writer and journalist. Born to a Jewish family in Ukraine, then part of the Russian Empire, Grossman trained as a chemical engineer at Moscow State University, earning the nickname ''Vasya-khimik'' ("Vasya the Chemist") because of his diligence as a student. Upon graduation he took a job in Stalino (now Donetsk) in the Donets Basin. In the 1930s he changed careers and began writing full-time, publishing a number of short stories and several novels. At the outbreak of the Second World War, he was engaged as a war correspondent by the Red Army newspaper ''Krasnaya Zvezda''; he wrote first-hand accounts of the battles of Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, and Berlin. Frank Bajohr (born August 16, 1961, in Gladbeck) is a German historian, best known for his books ''"Aryanisation" in Hamburg'' (2002), ''Erik Blumenfeld'' (2010), and ''The Political Diary of Alfred Rosenberg and the Onset of the Holocaust'' (2015). He is affiliated with the Forschungsstelle für Zeitgeschichte in Hamburg and a Research Fellow at the International Institute for Holocaust Research at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem.
